PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introducing the group’s topic
Over time, our world has changed in many ways, modes and aspects This generation and many others passed but when the old system dies, a new system takes its place Every century has different generations, but when it comes to the 21st century with science and technology growing strongly, a generation Z appeared with very different and new lifestyles Different centuries will also create different lifestyles Because of that, our group chose to learn more deeply about “Difference in lifestyle between the old and the young”
1.2 Outling the presentation
There are 4 parts to our presentation The first is an introduction to the lifestyle, its definition, nature, and influence of lifestyle on people The second part is about difference
in lifestyle between old and young people The third part is to propose solutions to bridge
the gap and connect two generations old and young The final is some modern lifestyles today
Il BODY DEVELOPMENT
1.1 Definition, nature and influence of lifestyle on people
Definition: lifestyle is a noun indicating the formation of personality, way of life, that
is grown over the years of each individual under the influence of the surrounding environment and other agents
Nature: lifestyle expresses the unique features of a person or a group of people in terms of living, working, behaviors, actions, in daily life It makes you stand out and not be overshadowed in society Lifestyle is a popular term and is paid much attention to by young people today
Influence: The lifestyle of young people makes it difficult for the elderly to adapt and accept Because the elderly often like to be quiet, like to maintain a culture of
4
Trang 5behavior in life, in daily work and they also want their children and grandchildren to behave like that Meanwhile, young people often tend to be dynamic, like to explore new things, so they feel that their grandparents and parents always don't understand what they mean, always want to prevent what they want to do
This makes both sides feel conflicted and dissatisfied Young people will always ask the question "Why don't adults understand what I mean” and older people will ask
"Why don't the children listen to me” Just like that, both sides will become more and more distant and don’t want to talk to each other
1.2 Difference in lifestyle between old and young people
1.2.1 On social factors: economic, Political, traditional culture, ethics
The difference in lifestyle between the old and the young on economic and political issues is shown very clearly because of the distance between the two generations The elderly always attach great importance to the country's political and economic issues, they often get information by watching the news and reading papers or electronic newspapers Young people living in modern times have access to a lot of information However, they have little insight into politics
Example: In many elections, both the elderly and the young participated However, young people are less interested in information about candidates for immigration, they vote with a "get it done" mentality
Traditions are customs, practices, and lifestyles that are formed, accepted by society, and passed on from generation to generation We see the difference in the traditional cultural way of life for young and old According to the lifestyle of older people, cultural traditions will be preserved and respected intact, hardly modifiable But today, with the way of life of the youth, with the change in social life, the impact of industrialization and modernization, and the development of the market economy, there is a change in the deep perception of the way knowledge is acquired, developing the lifestyle of young people Example: The cultural tradition of spiritual values like Cheo, Tuong, and Cai Luong singing in Vietnam these values, the elderly see as the valuable spiritual value that brings beauty to daily life But with time and thus far, the spiritual values of these lines of music are no longer accepted by young people, it seems to be lost because the lifestyle of young people today is directed to what is trending, vibrant, expressing ego
Trang 6Ethics shows the beauty in people's lifestyles In the lifestyle of the elderly, morality
is a great source of education and formation begins as a hierarchy of order Ethics in behavior, in daily life, are taken as a measure for people For example, being ethical in daily behavior such as respecting teachers, being polite The morality of young people in cognitive thought is gradually corrupted Some young people do not respect elders, have vulgar words, and act violently toward people around them
1.2.2 About family factors
Family has an influential role in many aspects of lifestyle such as awareness, personality, profession, fashion style,
For the younger generation, the role of the family 1s expressed through two functions of education and meeting psychological and emotional needs It contributes greatly to the formation of the nucleus and is the source of shaping the lifestyle of young people The elderly are responsible for nurturing and teaching young people and they create habits, lifestyles and cultures in the family In addition, they are the ones who filter and transmit information so that young people can behave in accordance with the general standards of society
2.2.3 About the work factors
For the young generation, this is the period when they seek and pursue the work they love The working environment will directly impact their lifestyle
For example, when you do office work, you will create for yourself a neat and orderly lifestyle, strictly following the set rules
The elderly have experienced many jobs and faced many problems The skills and knowledge gained from those jobs help them quickly apply them in their daily lives, and they can solve problems effectively
2.2.4 About the age factors
Young and old people have obvious differences in age expression
Young people are aged between 16 and 30 years old, they are among the most beautiful ages in human life They absorb quickly cultures in the world, so they quickly build a personal lifestyle, integrating with the world
The elderly are 60 years old or older, they carry a past-oriented lifestyle and conservative views, difficult to change their thinking
Trang 72.2.5 About the healthy factors
Health is the most important factor for every human being, it is the basic foundation for a joyful life In addition to the similarities in roles and importance, the health of the elderly and the young have some differences that must be mentioned as follows: about the body,
in terms of food demand, and regarding health promotion activities
Young people have healthy bodies, strong bodies, and well-proportioned bodies Young people always have a cheerful spirit, full of vitality, have a good memory, and high ability to collect information Therefore, young people always take advantage of the advantages of physical and mental health to experience, study, and increase their income
In terms of food demand, young people often have a large demand for food The foods they eat may contain a lot of fat such as fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc drinks contain a lot of sugar and gas Regarding health promotion activities, young people like high-intensity sports, paying attention to endurance such as gym, and cardio,
The elderly have a weak body, they experience pain in many positions such as the back, knee, hand joint, and leg joint, Therefore, the mobility of the elderly often suffers limited Besides, they also have to face other diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer, which creates a burden for them called "double illness" In terms of food needs,
in contrast to young people, the elderly often have a low need for food The foods they eat contain a lot of fiber, vitamins, and minerals such as green vegetables, fruits, and functional foods In terms of health promotion activities, the elderly often focus on low- intensity exercises, focusing on bones and joints and body flexibility such as meditation, yoga, and nutrition
Although there are differences in health factors, both young and old need to strengthen and improve their health Have good health to resist the bad effects of a disease, good health is a good life!
2.2.6 About the hobby factors
Hobbies are regular or habitual activities that bring people joy and excitement People's preferences are very diverse, so everyone's preferences are different, especially between the elderly and the young
Young people love adventures, and adventure games, they look forward to discovering new worlds They are willing to challenge themselves to go to places that no one has been to with the desire to assert themselves such as tourist destinations Young people have a hobby of gathering friends, they often go to bustling places such as festivals, restaurants, and discos,
Trang 8Old people want to gather and gather with their families and children They like to go
to quiet places like pagodas, temples, and religious clubs They focus on spiritual values instead of material values, focusing on things from the past
2.3 Solutions to bridge the gap and connect between two generations old and young
Firstly, we should keep an open mind Listening comes with understanding, which means that young people must learn to put themselves in the shoes of the elderly and try to understand how they feel Now, young people have to close the generation gap with the old Young people must understand the plight of older people Because they've been through the hardest things in life
For example : The younger one shouldn't give suggestions to the elders on every small thing If possible in some cases, we should appreciate them if they do or say even small good things If the younger generation will understand the older and behave as mentioned above, the relationship will become good between old people and young people Most importantly don’t try to change the older generations in every aspect, try to accept them as they are
Secondly, making time to_communicate with older people is very important The simple act of talking about each other’s day at the end of the day can help you get to know each other and make it easier to speak freely around the other
For example: Nowadays, everyone’s life is becoming busier But still, we have hours for Facebook, Youtube, and Tiktok That means we have time We should spend less time on social media and spare at least 30 to 60 minutes for our family If you two generations don’t have anything similar to talk about then the younger person should just ask the older person about giving suggestions Try this once I am sure they will start to talk about their time And you will also know many new things about the past You will find it very interesting, try it once
2.4 Some modern lifestyles today
Wabi-sabi - Beauty from imperfection
This is an ancient Japanese philosophy of how people appreciate and accept small, imperfect things The Wabi-sabi lifestyle teaches people about change and how to accept that change, even if it is incomplete, not really complete Wabi-sabi makes it easier for people to evaluate, comment, and know how to reconcile the shortcomings in life to realize happiness is always around
Hygge - Happiness in the little things
Trang 9Hygge, the lifestyle that symbolizes the personality of the Danish people, is known around the world as a dream lifestyle Hygge lifestyle is the enjoyment of reality, satisfaction, and appreciation of the smallest things that exist in our life
For example, On a beautiful sunny day, you sit and sip a cup of coffee, watch the sunset, and listen to your favorite music, and you are happy, that is Hygge
With a fast life, the Hygge lifestyle is somewhat of a luxury that many people wish for Let's create a Hygge lifestyle, enjoy a happy life
Friluftsliv - Back to Nature
Originating from the happy land of Norway, the Friluftsliv lifestyle 1s the way that people find nature, and immerse themselves in it, gently and peacefully to free their souls People who follow this lifestyle, like climbing, swimming, boating, camping by the lake, and breathing the air, see nature as a peaceful home However, Friluftsliv is not giving up on city life, itis inside you, always having a strong connection with nature The Fniluftsliv lifestyle not only helps people live better and peacefully, but it also motivates people to be aware of and appreciate nature and life more
Il CONCLUSION
