In this stan ard, the definition of “sp cimen” an “ est piece” as defined in ISO 18 are u ed

8 Edge- e ring resistance

– a V-notc ed plate with a thic nes of (1,2 ? 0,0 ) mm, f or u e with the stir up fame;

– a V-notc ed plate with a thic nes of (2,5 ? 0,0 ) mm, f or u e with the stir up fame;

– a ten ion-testin mac ine in ac ordan e with clau e 7

8.2 Te t pie e

Cut nine test pieces 15 mm to 2 mm wide an at le st 2 0 mm lon in s c a way that the

lon direction is p ral el to the mac ine direction of the p p r L b l these as MD test pieces

Cut nine ad itional test pieces havin the same dimen ion but with the lon direction p ral el

to the cros direction of the p p r L b l these as CD test pieces

8.3 Proc dure

If p p rs havin a thic nes of 0,7 mm or les are to b tested, at ac the 1,2 mm thic

plate to the ed e te r stir up fame If thic er p p rs are to b tested, atac the 2,5 mm

thic plate

Fasten the thin tan of the stir up fame in the lower clamp (se note) of the ten ion-testin

mac ine so that

– the vertical centre l ne of the stir up coin ides with the l ne con ectin the mid-p ints of

the up er an lower clamps of the testin mac ine, an

– the sides of the V-notc are s mmetrical y located relative to the l ne throu h the mid

-p ints of the clamps
