safety r eq irement of IATA A HM 9 2an EN 1 3 2-4
5 Equipment requir ements for interfac e w ith air craft
5.1 Referenc e planes
5.1.1 T e folow ing r eferenc planes ar e used in or de to define the location of the p tential
inte fer enc ar eas in r elation with the air craf p s eng er do rs
5.1.2 Vertical r eferenc e plane
The plane, pe pen icular t o the local air raf skin, p s ing through the mos forward edg e of the do r
w hen st owed in the o en position
F or air raf ty es with an inward o ening do r, the ve tical r fe enc plane shal be the plane,
pe pen icular t o the local air raf skin, locat ed 0, 91 m (3 f) forward of the forward edg e of the do r
o ening
NOTE This vertical reference plane was chosen b cause the most flight safety c itical items on commonly
operated air raf ty es are located immediately forward of it an it is usual y situat ed immediat ely in front of a
pas eng er b arding bridg ’ s operat or, th s al owing optimum positioning ac uracy
Trang 95.1.3 Hor izo tal r eferenc e plane
The plane of the air raf do r si l
NOTE 1 T is plane is horizontal only in reference to the air raf , not to the grou d: most civil transport
air raf ty es present a nose down ca in flo r slope of, ty icaly, 1° to 2° Unles the pas eng er b arding bridg e
or pas eng r transfer vehicle’ s plat orm is eq ip ed with a “twisting” adjustment system, it wil usual y b at a
slight angle from the reference plane
NOTE 2 On those air raf with an outward opening do r, the lower edg of the do r when st owed in the open
position is located b tween 5 mm (2.0in)an 9 mm (3.5 in) over the horizontal reference plane
5.2 Critical ar eas
F or the air raf ty es taken int o ac ount, the c itical ar as w he e any int erfe enc from the pas eng er
b arding bridg e or pas eng er trans e vehicle shal be avoided ar shown in Figur 1 In r lation t o the
r fe enc planes defined in 5.1, the ar as conc rned ar the hat ched ar as shown in Figur 2
NOTE Figures 1 an 2 concern the do r on the lef-han (LH) side of the air raf Where a pas eng r
b arding bridg or pas eng r transfer vehicle is inten ed for use on right-han (RH) side do r , a symmetrical
patt ern is used
5.3 Minimum requirements
The design of the air raf mating se tion of the p s eng er b arding bridg e or pas eng er trans e
vehicle shal guarant ee the a senc of int erfe enc with any of the c itical ar as def ined in 5.2, w hi e
the suita ly pad ed leading edg e of the platorm is in contact with the air raf skin, inclu ing any efe t
of p d ing flexibi ity The a senc of int erfe enc shal be ensur d
a) within a r asona le rang e of longitu inal (p ralel t o the air raf c nt erl ne) p sitioning ac uracy;
a p sitioning ac uracy of ± 0 mm (4 in) or mor should be conside ed,
b) with the p s eng er b arding bridg e or p s eng er trans e vehicle plat orm flo r level ( e NOTE 1
in 5.1.3) with the horizontal r fe enc plane (air raf do r si ), an
c) within the ex e t ed rang e of ve tical ex cursion, d ring normal air raf turnarou d activities,
of the r lative p sitions of the air raf an the pas eng er b arding bridg e or p s eng er trans e
vehicle’ s plat orm
5.4 Automatic level ing
Pas enge b arding bridges shal be eq ipped with an automatic level ing sys em as def ined
in IAT A AHM 9 2 The automatic level ing sys em pe formanc an o e ation shal me t the
r q ir ment of 5.3
5.5 Back-up system
A b ck-up sy st em as defined in IAT A AHM 9 2 shal be pro ided on p s eng er b arding bridg esin orde
t o avoid a risk of damag e t o the air raf in the event of aut omatic level ing sy st em faiur The b ck-up
sy st em ma consis in (a)bridg e plat orm cut-out (s) ofa pro riat e dimensions, ensuring the a senc of
int erfe enc with any of the c itical ar as def ined in 5.2
6 Operating requirements
Staf authoriz d t o p sition an r mo e a p s eng er b arding bridg e or p s eng er trans e vehicle shal
be briefed at r gular int erv ls on:
a) the exist enc , location an imp rtanc for fl ght safety of c itical devic s such as pit ot , pro es,
sensors, et c on those air raf ty es an sub-ty esse vic d at he airp rt,
