Use of semi automated/ fuly automated sy stems to perform the test

Beside the man al proc d r t o pe form the t es as desc ibed in the normative p rt of this Int ernational

Stan ard, the t es could also be pe formed using aut omat ed or semi-a ut omat ed ins rument Due t o

F.3.1 Limits to mo ificatio s

When using a semi- or ful y aut omat ed a paratus it is es ential that the fu damental principles of the

t es ar not compromised The b sic dimensions an cons ruction p ramet ers of the holde for the f ilt er

p pe subs rat e, metal rim, an t es chambe r main es entialy unchang ed The t es chambe ma

inclu e ad itional component t o aut omat e the proc s as long as these comp nent do not influenc

the out come of the t es

F.3.2 Test chambe (reference to 5.3)

The fu damental cons ruction of the t es chambe r mains the same, an the t es chambe shal be

closed d ring a det ermination ex cept for the chimney o ening; howeve in a fuly a ut omatic sy st em

the front wal of the t es chambe ne d not be a hing ed do r In ad ition, the t es chambe should be

supp rt ed in an a pro riat e man e , but ma not r q ir the use of four fe t, one at each corne
