CHAPTER I: CONSTRUCTION METHOD OF DRAINAGE SYSTEM
All materials must be in conformity with the Specifications
I CONSTRUCTION OF U SHAPED DITCHES
1 Preparation
This is the drainage ditch for pavement, so that construction will be started when execution of road foundation
2 Construction
Setting out roadside ditches: setting out the required location, lengths,
diirection of fall, and grades of all roadside ditches, whether lined or unlined Setting out shall include locating all associated catch pits and out falls
Ditchs shall be constructed for the relocation of irrigation channels Such work shall include excavation of drainage ditchs to the depth and shape required, along with the deposition and shaping of excavated materials along the edge Underground drainage structures, including earthwork and backfilling incidental thereto, shall be completed before the adjacent roadway surfacing is placed, but pipe endwalls shall not be constructed until adjacent works has been completed, as developments during construction may justify alterations in design
or location of such endwalls Also manholes, catch basins and inlets shall not be completed to final grade until after the relevant operations have been finished and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure suitable connections
at proper grade and alignment with pavements, gutter, curbs, etc
Removing and disposing of all excavation material to at least 10 meters from the waterway area to prevent any surplus material from falling inti the excavated waterway
II IMPROVEMENT OF EXISTING DRAINS AND DRAINAGE STRUCTURES
The constructor shall not begin the improvement of drains and drainage structure work without the Engineer’approval on the schedule and construction method proposed by the Contructor
Trang 4VRAMP – CONTRACT PACKAGE:RAP/CP9 – MAINTENANCE OF NH6 FROM KM138÷KM158 IN HOA BINH AND SON LA
1 Extending elevation of existing concrete ditch structures
As required to extend the wall height of an existing drainage ditch, the Constructor shall remove necessary concrete, plaster, blocking
The Contructor shall extend the height of the drainage ditch walls to the required new elvation using material similar to those employed on the orginal wall
2 Concrete drainage ditch covers
All existing concrete drainage ditches to be modified and/or cleaned shall
be inspected by the Engineer to determine the acceptability of existing concrete ditch covers and the need for additional and new covers At this time the
Engineer shall advise the Contractor what concrete covers shall be reused, the units that shall be replaced and the requirements for new cover sections
The Contructor shall provide new sections of precast concrete ditch covers similar in appearance, thickness and dimension to the existing concrete covers
3 New cross drainage piping and catch basins
The Contractor shall remove existing concrete cross drainage ditchs and/or catch basins, and replace that with new cross drainage piping and/or new catch basins
New cross drainage piping shall be of the size and type indicated on the Drawings, or as directed by the Engineer
After removal of existing structures, and prior to the contruction of new structures, the Contractor shall prepare the subgrade by removing all loose materials and thoroughly compacting the subgrade material
Backfill materials if required
Drainage piping connections to existing concrete drainage chnels shall be accomplished by using exising drainage ditch openings in the drainage chanels
as much as practicable The Contractor shall extend existing openings in existing openings in existing drainage dich walls or provide new conection openings as required to provide proper new cross drainpipe placment
The Contractor shall fill areas around pipe openings in the drainage chanel walls with mortar
Where the removed drainage ditches opening extends to the top of the existing drainage chanel wall, the wall section above the draiage pipe shall be installed
4 Cleaning of existing drainage ditches and drains
Removal all debris and obstructions from existing drainage ditches, cross drains and/or catch basins Such work for cleaning shall include the removal of all debris and obstructions from open as well as covered drainage structures to the satisfaction of the Engineer
III EXISTING WATERWAY PROTECTION
1 Preservation of existing waterways
Disturbing natural streams or chanels as well as irrigation canals and drain adjacent to the works of this Contructor without the approval of the Engineer and
Trang 5VRAMP – CONTRACT PACKAGE:RAP/CP9 – MAINTENANCE OF NH6 FROM KM138÷KM158 IN HOA BINH AND SON LA local authorities Irrigation canals shall not be disturbed without the permission of the local People’Committee or Irrigation Company that is responsible for their operation and maintance
If cannot excavating or dredging in an existing waterway for the proper execution of works, shall backfill all such excavation to the original ground
elevations and shapes with material approved by the Engineer after completing construction
Removing material deposited within the waterway area resulting from foundation excavation, constructing cofferdams, or other related works following construction
2 Preservation of water control structures
No disturbing existing water control structures adjacent to the works of this Contract without the approval of the Engineer and local authorities These structures shall include existing culverts, canal inlets, regulators, gates, pumping stations, etc Water regulation structures for irrigation shall not be disturbed without the permission of the local People’s Committtee or Irrigation Company that is responsible for their operation and maintenance
3 Realigning existing waterways
Where embankment stabilisation or other permanent works of the Contract will unavoidably block, or partially block, any existing waterway, the waterway shall be relocated to ensure unrestricted flow past the works at all usual irrigation supply and flood control levels
Waterway realignments, whether temporary or permanent, shall preserve the existing channel invert levels Realigned waterways shall be located so that expected flows will not cause detrimental scour or erosion of the works or nearby property
The Contracter shall be responsible for maintaining the design flow and water levels in all temporarily relocated irrigation canals throughout the Contract period The Contractor shall be responsible for any additional pumping or other related works for maintaining these irrigation facilities at his own expense
