A: No We track shipping, packing, and receiving by hand.

A: It does take time But it is very accurate.

B: Will you tell me about your data acquisition process? How does that work?

A: Almost everything is tracked with bar codes.

B: Do you use linear bar coding or two – dimensional bar coding?

A: We use two-dimensional bar codes.

Ideas for improvement:

The company can convert some materials to linear bar code systems These can be easily produced within the factory using inexpensive bar code printers The scanners to read these are also less expensive Costlier scanners needed to read two- dimensional bar codes could be saved for materials that must be stored with additional information.
