Since 1976,Mr Gardnerhas served the DelawareValleyas a journalistand news

anchorforWPVI-TV(ActionNews) His awardsarenumerous,buthisostensiblemarkis aprofessional longevity, consistency, anddedicationto the Philadelphia region.Theson ofaprominentphysician, Mr Gardnerwas bornandraised inNewYorkCity.Hereceivedhisbachelorofartsdegreefrom ColumbiaUniversity,and itwastherewhere hegothis first tasteofbroadcast journalism Hereportedonthestudentriots atColumbiain 1968fortheuniversity'sradiostation,WKCR-FM.

Anavidreporter, Mr Gardnerhasleftthe confinesofthenewsroomto followquential nationalandinternationalstoriesandevents. Hehascoveredeverypoliticalcon-ventionsince 1980,andhas interviewed every presidentandmajorpresidentialcandidate

conse-since1976 Hereported fromVatican CityonthedeathofPopePaulVI,fromGermany

onthe returnoftheAmericanhostages heldin Iran,and fromRussiaonthedemise oftheSovietEmpire.And whentheIsraeli-PalestinianpeaceaccordsweresignedinWashington,
