JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education An earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or closely related field is required with a preference for an individual with teacher certification and
experience teaching public school mathematics A commitment to teaching at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels is essential Responsibilities will focus on teaching
undergraduate and graduate mathematics methods courses as well as courses for the
mathematics major and service courses for general education and prospective teachers
Demonstrated experience with the use of technology in instruction and an interest in
developing/teaching distance learning courses is highly desirable Scholarly expectations
include research and pursuit of external funding opportunities (especially those related to teacher preparation), publications in peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at local,
regional and national conferences Service to professional organizations is expected as is service
to the university including participation in departmental, college and university committees
