Position Description
The University of Louisiana System invites applications for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs
Since its formation in 1974, the University of Louisiana System is one of the
nation's largest public systems of higher education and has provided entry to higher education through its nine regional universities: Grambling State University,
Louisiana Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and University of New Orleans UL System universities enroll over 92,000 students of all ages and
backgrounds and offer over 650 academic degree programs
The Provost is the chief academic officer and is responsible for the vision and overall coordination of academic programs; oversight for accreditation processes and activities, academic program development, and policies and processes related
to advising and retention of students, instructional technology, and the recruitment, evaluation, and development of faculty The Provost reports to the president, is a member of the president's cabinet, and works with appropriate committees of the System's Board of Supervisors The new Provost will be expected to lead and organize system-wide initiatives to increase student access and success, and to connect these initiatives to the long-term vision of the System
The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate or other terminal degree from an accredited institution and significant and successful experience in higher education administration, including budgetary and personnel responsibilities,
strategic planning, and academic program development In addition, the candidate should have a track record of strategic use of data and analytics to support
increased performance in student success initiatives; a solid understanding of
current higher education issues and of work-force related academic areas important
to the UL System, including teacher education, nursing, pharmacy, and business; and outstanding communication skills Successful campus-level experience is preferred Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience
