Brian Harlan is currently Associate Provost for Integrative Learning at California Institute of the Arts, where he has been since 2012 Before working at CalArts, he was Assistant Dean of Academic Assessment and Planning at Occidental College, and prior to this, Director of Doheny Research Library, Access Services, and Assessment for University of Southern California Libraries Brian earned a PhD in Music History and Literature and a BA in Liberal Arts at USC, and an
MA in Ethnomusicology and Systematic Musicology at UCLA His books and journal publications cover a range of topics on music, academic assessment, and the philosophy of education
