Scholarship Purpose
The purpose of the Oklahoma State University - Stillwater Native American Faculty and Staff Association (NAFSA) Scholarship is to assist Native American students and those involved in the Native American
community in completing their higher education and to recognize and reward academic performance, honors, leadership, and community involvement Oklahoma State University Native American Faculty & Staff
Association Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to undergraduate and graduate students with a Native American background or involvement and who are attending classes on the OSU Stillwater campus
Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must have a Native American background or Native American community involvement, and be a United States Citizen or a permanent resident of the United States The applicant must be attending Oklahoma State University (Stillwater campus only) as a full-time student and have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA A full-time undergraduate student must take a minimum of twelve credit hours Scholarship awardees will be invited to attend the 2013-2014 NAFSA scholarship ceremony at Oklahoma State University
Awards and Selection Process
The Native American Faculty and Staff Association at Oklahoma State University sponsor the scholarship A review committee will evaluate all applications using the following criteria:
Native American community involvement/contributions
Leadership
Academic achievement
Financial Need
Letters of reference
Candidates will be notified of their selection by May 3, 2013 For scholarship awardees, a total of $1,500 will
be deposited into their Bursar account in two disbursements of $750 for the Fall 2013 semester and $750 for the Spring 2014 semester Continuation of funding is dependent upon completion of a minimum of 10 total hours of community service each semester including at least 5 hours of Native American cultural community service Community service forms can be found at: http://nafsa.okstate.edu/scholarship.htm
Native American Faculty & Staff Association
The purpose of our organization is to:
Create an organization, receptive to the needs of all Native Americans at OSU (Stillwater campus only)
Provide an institutional forum, which will improve the education of Native American people
Create a vehicle, which can advise the administration on issues affecting Native Americans at OSU
Provide programs and services, which will assist in the recruitment and retention of Native American students, faculty and staff

Scholarship History
The Native American Faculty and Staff Scholarship was established in 1995 For 2013-2014, up to 6 continuing undergraduates will be awarded $1,500 individually, based on availability of funds
