UPWARD BOUND SUMMER PROGRAM 2016 RESIDENT HALL DIRECTOR
The primary responsibility of the Resident Hall Director is to coordinate and supervise all resident hall staff and activities for his/her respective area during the summer program The Resident Hall Director is directly responsible to the Upward Bound Summer Program Coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1 To actively serve as a positive role model for students and Tutor
Counselors.
2 To provide, supervision, counseling and leadership for the Tutor
Counselors.
3 To relate wholesomely to the student participants, by becoming
familiar with students, their interests, etc.
4 To be directly responsible for maintaining the building, i.e., including
key issues, floor rosters, etc.
5 To assist in establishing a building code of conduct with the student
population, Tutor Counselors, Upward Bound staff, and enforcing it.
6 To coordinate and supervise all resident hall functions as directed by
Upward Bound Summer Program Coordinator.
7 To articulate and support the philosophy of the Upward Bound
program and reflect this in dealings with Tutor Counselors, students and Upward Bound staff.
8 To establish and enforce uniform resident hall policies with the other
members of the Resident Hall staff.
9 To provide Upward Bound Summer Program Coordinator with updated
information on the students' activities in the resident hall, Tutor Counselor staff meeting minutes etc.

10 To provide Upward Bound Summer Program Coordinator with updated
information on the Tutor Counselor's progress during the summer, by completing Tutor Counselor evaluation forms, meeting with Tutor Counselors on a weekly basis, etc
11 To attend all field trips and assist with supervision.
12 To assist Upward Bound Professional staff with the development and
implementation of Tutor Counselor training and workshops.
13 To provide Upward Bound Summer Program Coordinator with final
evaluation on Tutor Counselors, as well as periodic student reports.
14 To provide on-going guidance and counseling to students and Tutor
Counselors.
15 To provide other assistance to Upward Bound staff and students as
directed.

Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Social Sciences, etc.)
- 2-3 years experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
- 2-3 years previous Residential Life experience
- Background similar to target population
- valid driver license
Term of Employment (June 15, 2016– July 29, 2016)
RESIDENT HALL DIRECTOR SALARY: $1,800 plus Room and Board
