PUSO’s 19th Annual Medical Mission Gala: “Treasures of the Heart”
Since 1998, PUSO has provided its members with the opportunity to travel to a third world country and do humanitarian exposure trips through the Medical Mission Scholarship During a medical mission, participants receive the opportunity to:
Work alongside doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
Meet underprivileged adults, teens, and youth with limited access to health care services
Participate in exposure trips with other students and activists from all over the world
Create connections with other international medical mission organizations
Develop leadership skills volunteering abroad
And much, much more!
The annual Medical Mission Scholarship commenced in order to further the mission of the Pilipino Pre-Health Undergraduate Student Organization (PUSO) Through the Scholarship, students traveled abroad and experienced the socioeconomic, political, and cultural hardships of an underdeveloped healthcare system, particularly in the Philippines and Mexico The scholarship recipients educate the general public about the healthcare inefficiencies in these countries
Each year, PUSO coordinates a dinner-dance benefit gala in which all proceeds go to recipients of the Medical Mission Scholarship At this benefit gala, diverse talents are celebrated in the form of song and dance Scholarship recipients present their findings and realizations to various healthcare professionals, University representatives, students, families, and other guests during the annual Medical Mission Gala After all presentations are made, guests are invited to dance the night away, all in the name of good health and health care improvement worldwide This year, our 19th Annual Medical Mission Gala will be held on April 27,2018
