 đích 172.16.12.1 với netmask 255.255.0.0 định nghĩa route to

network 172.16.0.0, nhưng cùng đích với 1 mask of 255.255.255.255 định nghĩa route đến host 172.16.12.1

 Nếu không mô tả netmask,  defaults 255.255.255.255.
