WRITING SKILL

I Class descriptions: 30 students in grade 10 at Xuan Hoa high school

II Time: 45 minutes

III Objectives:

After learning this lesson, students (Ss) will be able to get the following points

1 Knowledge:

General knowledge: by the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Learn about the typical characteristics of the American people

+ Realize that how we are different: People in different countries have different personalities

Language: After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Remember and use vocabulary relating to characteristics and grammar structures for writing a short essay

2 Skills: by the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Write about the typical characteristics of Vietnamese people + Compare the differences between American people and Vietnamese people

3 Attitude: after the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Be more interested in exploring different characteristics of different people

+ Be proud of Vietnamese people and more love Vietnamese

Answer key:

+ Introduction: There are some characteristics

shared by most Americans.

+ Characteristic 1: Individuality and individual

rights.

Evidence: Americans value freedom and do not

like to be dependent on other people.

+ Characteristic 2 Practical

Evidence: They place great value on doing

things for themselves.

+ Characteristic 3: Important about money.

Evidence: Money is more important than

prestige to them.

+ Characteristic 4: parents have less influence

on children

such as: language used or structure used

Introduction : introduce the topic by 1-2

sentences ( the typical characteristic)

characteristics.

Body: support the main idea

Characteristic 1 + evidence

Characteristic 2 + evidence

Characteristic 3+ evidence

about a typical Vietnamese characteristic and an

example to support it in 2 minutes

_give feedback and some suggestion for Ss
