Unit 1: Family life

Lesson 7 : Communication and culture

I Objective:

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Make small discussion about the role of husband and wife today

- Have more vocabulary related to the topic “Communication and culture” such

as unclear family, extended family, nursery school, child minder, nursing home, generation, single-parent…

- Get some knowledge about the family life in Vietnam and Singapore

II Time : 45 minutes

III Aids:

Course books, note books, projector, handout, speaker, ect

IV Procedure

10’ Warm-up

-Gretting class -Playing game “Matching”

-T devices Ss into two big groups -Introduction:

Each group have 5 pictures They have 1 minute to discuss and then run as fast as possible to the board and match them with the suitable key words They have 1 minute

to finish

-T checks Ss’ answer, gives explanations if necessary and congrats to the winner by small present

-Lead on lesson -Being excited

Pre-teaching

-T asks ss to think about their own family and “sharing”

+T explain “share” by examples (pen, facebook) and Ss can guess by Vietnamese

Improve listening

+ The man and the woman in the pictures like Ss’ parents or not?

+ Do you think house work should be share

to every members in a family?

- Ss can answer by Vietnamese

-Ss look at task 2 and read some opinions about women/man’s role in a family and underline key word (T helps if needed)

- Ss listen to twice to complete task 2

-T plays the CD twice, Ss listen to carefully each key words and match

-T checks with class by saying the number,

Ss say the letter

17’ teachingWhile

-T asks Ss to open the book page 13 and scan the text to get the overview about the content in 4 minutes

-After 4 minutes, T shows and asks each question then Ss answer by showing the flag

of each nation

 Generation -The winner will have small present -T checks the answers in the passage
