LESSON 4 : Write

A The aims of the lesson

1 Knowledge

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a simple speech and

present it before the class

- Vocabulary: rule, sum up, regularly, solid, separate, sheet, draft

- Structure: The simple present, conditional sentence

2 Skills: - Writing

3 Attitude: Help ss to have good consciousness in order to

write a simple speech and present it before the class

B Preparations

1.Teacher : posters, computer, speaker, projector

2 Students: Unit 7 Write

C Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: Shark’s attack, Jumble words, Matching, Ordering, Exhibition

D Procedure :

I.Organization: ( 1 minute)

- Greeting: Good morning!

- Who’s absent today?

II WARM UP (5 minutes)

Shark’s attack :

Cut out a shark ( or a crocodile )

and a school girl or boy from

card

- Draw some steps, then stick

the cut ouy girl/ boy on top of

the steps, the shark is in the

sea

- Draw four gaps for the world

- Get students into team ( or ask

them as a whole class ) for a

letter in the alphabet They have

to try to guess each letter If

there guess is wrong, the girl/

boy has to step down If their

boy

- Ask students to continue to

guess the words

about one of these topics

also conserve the resource.

* Bingo:

- Prepare a list of verbs + prepositions

Then call out each word in a loud voice

- Students listen to the teacher

carefully If anyone has the same verb

+ prepositions, they cross it out

The first student crossing out all 5

verbs + prepositions shout “Bingo” and

win the game

III NEW LESSON (36minutes)

Step 1 : Presentation 1 :

- Provide students 5 verbs +

prepositions and then ask them to

match the verbs with the pictures on

page 63

Answer keys:

- Picture 1: look after the baby

- Picture 2: go on (wasting paper)

- Picture 3: turn on TV

- Picture 4: look for

- Picture 5: turn off the faucet

Step 2 : Practice 1 :

- Have students work in pairs to do

Language Focus 2 exercise on page 63

They have to use suitable verbs to

complete the sentences

Step 3 : Presentation 2 :

* Brainstorming:

- Ask students to think of connectives

that they’ve learnt

- Have students go to the board and

write down the connectives

- Give feedback

- Ask students to give Vietnamese

meanings

Step 4 : Practice 2 :

- Have students work individually to do

the boxes in turns And make

sentences with the connectives given

If the sentence is correct, they will get

one mark

- The team which has 3 Noughts or 3

Crosses in a line will win the game

- Draw this chart on the board and the

game begins
