Trang 1The Soneplex System from ADC The T1/E1 Service Delivery Experts
Trang 2ADC has designed a family of Fibre Loop Converters (FLCs) that provide a cost-effective alternative to deploying service over copper while avoiding the high capital investment
of primary multiplexers and Fibre optic terminals This family includes products designed for economical distribution of single or multiple 2.048 Mb signals
The E1 Quad FLC multiplexes up to four 2.048 Mb signals for transport over two fibres
at typical distances of 72 Km (44 miles) The E1 QFLC system consists of a rack mounted central exchange shelf and a wall or rack mounted customer premises shelf
In contrast to fibre optic terminal systems (FOTS), which require a variety of modules to start up operation, the E1 QFLC module is a stand-alone system and does not require additional plug-in equipment
The E1 QFLC was designed to be installed quickly Installation is accomplished by simply plugging a single module into the chassis and conducting basic checks Exten-sive, built-in self-test circuitry allows the E1 QFLC to isolate module failures and alert maintenance personnel via standard office alarms
The E1 QFLC supports 1+1 redundancy to protect against single point failures of both optical facilities or electronic equipment The E1 QFLC features two sets of bit-error rate (BER) threshold select switches These switches enable the technicians to select the BER at which the module will: 1) declare a minor alarm to indicate that the BER has exceeded an early warning level and 2) initiate protection switching in a system config-ured in a protect mode The BER threshold at which protection switching occurs may be set according to the performance levels developed for access systems
Utilizing remote loopback, end-to-end performance can be tested at the local end By pressing the remote alarm display switch, local front panel LEDs instantly display remote module status This is used to determine the cause of a remote alarm, and provide detail necessary to determine whether or not to dispatch a technician to the far end
Description
Features and Benefits
• Universal chassis concept supports optical hubs and is compatible with ADC’s entire FLC family of O/E products
Mechanical housing can accommodate a wide variety of plug-in modules
The universal chassis provides a broad platform from which new services can be delivered
• Single module system
No need to inventory different working and protect modules, or different near and far-end modules One part number does it all, reducing investment in spare inventory and simplifying circuit provision-ing and installation.
• Optional 1+1 redundancy
Protection against Fibre facility or equipment failures Unprotected circuits can be upgraded later to provide protection, thereby lowering the initial cost of installation.
• Dual selectable BER threshold setting
Provides selectable BER thresholds for protection switching and early warning minor alarm Switching and minor alarm levels can be set according to service requirements.
Features and
Benefits
Trang 3• Remote (far-end) alarms can be displayed locally
Simplifies trouble diagnostics and allows single-ended trouble shooting This reduces field dispatches and improves responsiveness to potential service interruption.
• Remote housekeeping alarm transport
Housekeeping alarm inputs provide monitoring of external equipment at the remote site, such as fire and door alarms Reduces investment in external alarm reporting systems.
• Individual E1 remote loopback capability
Allows single-ended testing of each E1 link to aid in trouble sectionalization.
• Automatic configuration matching
Simplifies installation by allowing a technician to provision only one module in a link The remaining local, remote and protection modules automatically provision themselves correctly.
• Optional wall mount battery back-up
Provides a minimum of eight hours back-up in the event of commercial power failure, ensuring uninterrupted service Available in 110 VAC or 220/240 VAC versions.
• Voice service channel
- One full duplex connection per QFLC module
- Eliminate separate voice facility during installation
• Laser cutoff safety
- Automatically shuts off laser upon cable disconnect
- Eliminates hazardous conditions
• High power laser transmitter
- Optical power budget at 3 0-33 dB
• Temperature hardened design
- Operating temperature range -40 ° C to 65 ° C
- Humidity range 5% to 95%, non-condensing
• Backward compatible with E1Q-B2LDFC E1 QLFC module
• Extended DC input voltage operating range -40 VDC to -72 VDC
• SNMP access through SNMP map system
- Central control for up to 192 E1 service delivery points

Trang 4Providing fibre-based E1 services in urban applications requires low first cost installa-tion and the capability to serve multiple customer locainstalla-tions By placing the universal rack mount shelf in the central exchange, up to eight different customer locations may
be served from a single platform Service turn-up is fast, as only one plug-in part number is needed, whether the service is 1:1 protected or unprotected

With the installation of an eight position rack mount shelf in a central exchange or controlled environmental vault (CEV), a service provider can support multiple custom-ers, each of which would have a wall or rack mount chassis on their premises The E1 Quad Fibre Loop Converter allows the service provider to take advantage of any unused Fibre already terminated at the building premises, thereby providing E1 service in the most economical means possible As the customer’s service requirements become more critical, the service provider can install an additional E1 QFLC on each end of the link to fully protect the system

The Fibre Loop Converter family makes all-fibre building risers an economical reality Referenc-ing the application drawReferenc-ing, you can see many possible configurations that allow for fibre drops on each floor A primary or higher level multiplexer can be located in the base-ment of a high rise building and the E1s can
be deployed to the various floors of the build-ing via E1 QFLC modules
A series of wall mount chassis can be mounted in the wiring closets of each floor
In all situations, an AC power receptacle is all that is required to power the units;
battery back-up is also available
