Going to future expresses a conclusion regarding the

immediate future or an action in the near future that has already been planned or prepared

Future with Going to Structure:

*)Positive:

Subject + to be + going to + verb

I am going to attend the meeting.

He, She is going to attend the meeting

Subject + to be + not + going to + verb

I'm not going to visit Rome next year.

He, She isn't going to visit Rome next year.

The simple present expresses an action in the present taking place once, never, always or several times It is also used for actions that take place one after another and for actions that are set by a timetable or schedule The simple present also expresses facts in the present

Note: We don't add -s after negative and question

S + HAVE/HAS + V_ed (past participle)

Ex : I have lived Thai Nguyen ciy for twenty years The present perfect often accompanied by the word : already, since, still, before, lately,just, recently, this week, this morning, ever…

present with an unfinished time word (this morning, this week, this month…) :

We use this tense when we want to talk about unfinished actions that started in the past and continue to the present Usually we use it to say 'how long' an action or state has continued with 'since' and 'for' Often, we use stative verbs

She has been a teacher for thirteen years

We always use the simple past to say when something

happened, so it is associated with certain past time expressions

My father worked for the bank last year

We went shopping yesterday

He bought an expensive shirt for her.

1 Action in the past taking place usually, once, never or several times

He drove to the beach every Sunday

I used to swim in this river when I was small

Did he come to your party last week?

another in the past

He came in, said hello to everyone in the house and left for his room immediatly

3 To describe an action or event happened at a

specific time in the past

I ate lunch at noon today

A definite point in time: last week, when I was a child,

yesterday, six weeks ago

An indefinite point in time:the other day, ages ago, a

long time ago etc.

Use the Past Continuous to indicate that a longer action in the past was interrupted by another action or event In other words, it expresses an unfinished or incomplete action in the past

I was walking on the street when it rained

While I was painting a picture, she came

They were playing tennis at 10.00 yesterday

I was watching TV when she called

When the phone rang, she was writing a letter

Use of Past Perfect

1 We use the Past Perfect for an action which was

completed before a special point of time in the past.Examples:

I had never seen such a beautiful beach before I went to Kauai

I did not have any money because I had lost my wallet.Tony knew Istanbul so well because he had visited the city several times

2 We often use the Past Perfect together with the Simple Past The action which was completed before the other action began is put into Past Perfect

Examples:

We had had that car for ten years before it broke down

By the time Alex finished his studies, he had been in

London for over eight years
