“He used to go to the market”= Anh ấy đã đi chợ thường xuyên trong một thời gian ở quá khứ, nhưng anh ấy bây giờ không còn đi chợ nữa.
B Chúng ta dùng used to + infinitive để diễn tả một sự việc nào đó xảy ra thường xuyên ở quá khứ, nhưng bây giờ thì không còn diễn ra nữa.
I used to play tennis a lot but I don’t play often now Trước đây tôi thường chơi tennis nhưng bây giờ tôi không còn chơi thường xuyên nữa
C Đi theo sau “used to” ta dung động từ nguyên mẫu không chia (bare infinitive).

WISH SENTENCES (Câu ao ước)
* WISH có nghĩa là : ước, mong ước.
Dùng để ước, mong ước về những tình huống không có thật, nhưng chúng ta muốn đó là sự thật

I wish that I were not very tired now Tôi ước gì giờ tôi không rất mệt

Nguyên tắc giảm thì của động từ:
Present simple -> Past simple.
Present progressive -> Past progressive.
Present perfect -> Past perfect.
Past simple -> Past perfect.
Past progressive -> Past perfect progressive Future simple -> would/ could/ should/ might
(Đối với động từ “to be” ở thì quá khứ đơn và quá khứ tiếp diễn ta dùng “were” cho tất cả các ngôi)

Dạng 1: Chia động từ trong mệnh đề đi sau wish:
Eg 1: I wish that I always (study) hard.
I wish that I always studied hard
Eg 2: She wishes I (come) back tomorrow.
She wishes I would come back tomorrow.
Cách làm như sau:
Bước 1: Xác định động từ trong câu ở thì gì.
Bước 2: Giảm thìcủa động từ đó.
Dạng 2: Viết lại câu dùng wish:
Dạng này tùy theo mức khó dễ được chia làm 3 cấp độ
Cấp độ 1: Đây là loại dễ nhất, khi làm chỉ việc viết ngược lại câu đề và giảm thì là xong.
Eg: I don’t have a dog (tôi không có 1 con chó)
Ước ngược lại:
I wish I had a dog (tôi ước gì tôi có 1 con chó) Eg: I can’t swim.(tôi không biết bơi)
Viết ngược lại :
I wish I could swim (tôi ước gì tôi biết bơi)
Cấp độ 2: Cấp độ này khó hơn và thường bao gồm mệnh đề.
Eg 1: I am sorry I am late for class.
It is a pity you have not met Nam.
Cách làm:
Chọn mệnh đề chính làm giống như cấp độ 1
Eg 1: I wish that I were not late for class.
I wish that you had met Nam.
Trang 3Eg 2: I can’t buy a book because I don’t have enough money.
Cách làm:
Chọn 1 mệnh đề chủ yếu làm giống như trên cấp độ 1 còn mệnh đề còn lại biến thành to inf
Eg 2: I wish I had enough money to buy a book.
Cấp độ 3: Đây là cấp độ khó nhất đòi hỏi phải hiểu nội dung, ý của câu.
Eg: I want to meet Nam.
I would like to meet you.
Sit next to me.
Cách làm:
Chúng ta cứ đọc lên và thấy người nói muốn gì (hoặc không muốn gì) thì ta chọn chính động từ thể hiện ý muốn đó làm động từ chính:
Eg: I wish I met Nam.
I wish I met you.
I wish you sat next to me.
