1 ‘s’ is pronounced /z/ when it is after voice sounds (except the sounds z, ™ ,d™ )

2 ‘s’ is pronounced /s/ when it is after voiceless sounds (except the sounds s,

‘,t‘) Ex: bats [b“ts], kits [kits], dates [deits]

3 ‘s’ is pronounced /iz/ when it is after the sounds z, ™ ,d™ , s, ‘,t‘

Ex: washes [w˜‘iz], kisses [kisiz],
