! Create a service topology by distributing services across the network topology

This activity includes both small group tasks and class discussion

Prerequisites

To complete this activity, you must have already completed activities 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4

Materials

To complete this activity, you will need:

! The Ferguson and Bardell, Inc case study

! The future network topology provided

! The business object model created in activities 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4

Time to complete this activity: 10 minutes followed by a 10 minute discussion

Exercise 1: Determining the Deployment of Service Types

! Determine a preliminary distribution of services

1 Participate in small groups as assigned by the instructor

2 Review the Ferguson and Bardell, Inc case study

3 Review the network topology on this page

4 Indicate where particular service types will be, by writing a "U" for user services, "B" for business services, and "D" for data services at each machine with the service type that you expect to reside there

After completing the above steps, you will discuss your responses with the class The instructor will write the class consensus on a flip chart
