 Call a student

 Show the list of word with random letter

 Ask student to write the correct words

I Conditional sentences type 1

Form:If clause: simple present tense main clause: simple future (will + verb (infinitive))

IF CLAUSE , MAIN CLAUSE

If + S + V 1 , S + will/shall + bare-inf

Example:

1 If it rains, we will stay at home

2 If Peter gets his raise, he will buy a new car

- You can also put the result clause first without using a comma between the clauses.

Example: If he comes to town, we will

have dinner

OR We will have dinner if he comes to

town

Use: We use this structure when there is

a possibility that the situation in the if – clause will happen in the future or is true

in the present

PRACTICE:

 Let students work in pair to do the exercise in Language Focus 2 on page 90

 Call some students correct the exercises

 Give feedback and correct

 The whole class follows the teacher and takes note

Work in pair to practice:

 Do exercises on page 90

 Follow their friends and give comment

 Listen to the teacher

 Ask students to make five sentences using conditional sentences type 1

 Call some students read their sentences

II Conditional sentences type 2

- Set the scene: Ba is not rich so he cannot travel around the word (textbook, page 90)

- Ask students to complete the sentences:

* If Ba ………rich, he

………around

………

à If Ba were rich, he would travel around the world

Form : Main Clause: would/ could/

might + verb If Clause: past simple tense/ past

IF CLAUSE , MAIN CLAUSE

If + S + V 2 , S + would/ could/ should/

might +

1. If he studied more, he would pass the exam

- You can also put the result clause first without using a comma between the clauses.

2. They would buy a new house if they had more money

 A student complete the sentence

Use: We use this structure to talk

about unreal impossible situations This conditional provides an imaginary result for a given situation

Note: " were" is used with all persons.

We often use “If I were you” to give

advice

Example:

If I were you, I would not go there

PRACTICE:

Ask students to make conditional sentences type 2

Ask students to do exercise on page 91 and compare with a partner

Give feedback and correct

Answer keys:

Matching game

 Divide the class into two teams, A and B

 Ask each student from team A to make if clause (of the conditional sentences type 2) on a small piece of paper

 Ask each student from team B to make main clause

 Take 2 pieces of paper from two teams to have complete conditional sentences

 Call on some students to pick up 2 pieces

of paper from two teams and read the sentences

 This game help students to practice writing conditional sentences and make them feel relax

 Write the clause

 Read the clause
