LESSON 1-2

AIMS:

1 Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:

 Recognize and pronounce the letter Ll and its sound correctly

 Understand, recognize and say the three Ll words

 Write the letter Ll

Vocabulary :Lemon, lion, lollipop

Sight words :Look, a, and

2 Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing

3.Attitude: Recognize and pronounce the letter Ll and its sound

- Teacher’s:i-Learn My Phonics Grade 1 , lesson plan, CD Phonics cards

- Students’: Pupil’s Book –p.9 i-Learn My Phonics Grade 1,

- Communicative approach

1 Organization: (2mins )

- Greeting

- Checking for the students' attendance.

Greet students

Show the phonics cards, ask students to do corresponding actions then say the sound

of the letter and words

E.g Teacher: Show the ‘kite’ card

Class: “kitten", imitate the koala

1.Listen, point and repeat Colour:

Introduction of letter Ll, its sound and how

to pronounce the words beginning with Ll

Use a card with letter Ll (or write on board

the letter Ll) to introduce to the students the

new lesson

Instruct students how to pronounce the

letter name and the letter sound by saying:

“This is the letter L /el / The letter L says /

l /.”

Repeat several times and check students’

Activity 2

2.Listen and point Colour (Track74):

(6 mins)

Have students look at the book and listen

to the expression: “Look !A lemon, And a

lion, And a lollipop! Hurrah”,

Have students point to the objects when

they hear

Have students listen and repeat the words

for several times

Give feedback

Colour

Ask students to colour the lemon, the lion

and the lollipop using any colour they like

Go around the classroom, ask students to

name the item they are colouring

Activity 3

3 Chant and show! (Track 75) (6 mins)

Act it out

Read the word and ask students to listen

and do the gestures for 3 words lemon,

lion and lollipop.

Change role: teachers does the actions,

students look and call out the words

Chant and show

Use the phonics cards on the board and

have students sing the chant with lemon

Do the same with lion and lollipop.

Encourage the students to point to the

picture of the word that the teacher says

Play the CD Have the students listen to

the story once

Play the CD again The students listen and

point to the pictures of the key words

when they hear them in the story

Read the story The students follow their

books

Ask students work in pairs One reads

while the other checks, then they change

roles

Activity 5

5 Song (Track 77) (6 mins)

Put up the lemon, lion and lollipop

phonics cards on the board

Point to the lion and say: “the lion has a

lollipop, hurrah, hurrah!” The students

repeat

Follow the same procedure and present the

rest of the song

Play the CD The students listen and sing

along

Play the CD again The students sing and

do corresponding actions

4 Listen And Read Along Who has a lemon?

The lion has a lemon.

Who has a lollipop?

The lion has a lollipop.

5 Song

lemon, lion and lollipop

4.Consolidation: (1min)

- In this lesson, pupils have learnt: recognize and say the Ll words
