Unit 1: Hello

Lesson 1: Period 1: 1, 2, 3

I.Objectives

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction

+ Greet others and introduce themselves, using Hello/Hi I’m + (name).

II.Language focus:

- Sentence pattern: Hello/ Hi I’m + name.

- Vocabulary: hi, hello, I’m, nice to meet you.

III.Resources: Student's book, pictures, recording, CD, …

IV.Procedure s

1.Warm up.

- Greet the class by saying Hello Encourage Ss to

answer with Hello Repeat the proceduce several

times Then introduce yourself to the class by pointing

to yourself and say: I’m Mrs + your name Go around

the class and say your name to the different Ss Help

individuals respond with Hello I’m + his/her name.

2.New lesson.

2.1.Look, listen and repeat.

- Tell Ss that they’re going to practise introducing

themselves and responding to the introduction

- Point to the 1st pic and elicit the answers of who the

characters are Show Ss how to find the answers by

reading the text in the speech bubbles

- Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times

Repeat the procedure with the 2nd pic

- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the

characters speaking

- Play the recording for Ss to listen and say along

2.2.Point and say.

- Tell Ss that they’re going to practise saying Hello/

Hi I’m + name and responding to the greeting

- Point to each character in the pic and elicit his/her

name and the words to fill the gaps Write the whole

sentences on the board and have Ss repeat the

sentences a few times Repeat the procedure with the

2nd pic

- Do choral and individual repetition, using the

characters’ names as prompts, until Ss feel confident

to say the sentences without their books

+ Call an open pair to the front of the class to give a

3 Reinforcement.

- Tell Ss to say Hello to their teachers or adults and Hi

to their peers

Unit 20: Our toys

Lesson 2 - Period 133: Read and tick Let’s play.

I.Overview.

1.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about the quantities of toys

2.Language focus:Phonic: four, five

Vocabulary : Review

Sentence : Review

3.Teaching aids: Student's book, pictures, cassette, CD, workbook …

II.Procedure s

1.Warm up.

- Have Ss sing the song Linda’s got a little doll.

2.New lesson.

2 3.Read and tick.

- Have Ss turn their books to p69 and ask them to

identify the toys in the top pictures Tell them that

they’re going to read the text in the top frame,

match the information to the appropriate picture and

tick a box in the correct pictures Give meaning of

some.

- Ss read the text individually and do the task

- Have Ss work in pairs to trade their answers for

correction

- Sing

- Open your books and identify

- Read the text and do the task

- Pair work

- Call on some Ss to report their answers Others

- Make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension

of the language

- Have the whole class read the text in chorus to

reinforce their pronunciation

2.4.Let’s play.

- Ask Ss to identify the toys in the pictures and their

quantities

at the lower picture on p69

- Book closed The Ss in each group take turns to

say built-up sentences with Nam or Mai as the

subject

Eg:1.Nam’s got one ship.

He’s got one ship and three robots…

- Choose two groups to perform the game at the

front of the class Other groups observe and give

comments The group who gains the most points is

the winner

- Have the whole class repeat all the sentences to

reinforce their pronunciation

3 Reinforcement

- Replay Kim’s game with real objects in the

classroom

II.Procedure s

1.Warm up.

- Have Ss play Kim’s game with real objects in

their classroom

2.New lesson.

2.1.Listen and repeat.

- Play game

- Have Ss turn their books to p70, talk about the

characters and where the toys are Give the

meaning of here, there and great

- Use a poster and two Pp to set up the situation

Play the recording all the way through for Ss to

listen

- Play the recording once again for Ss repeat each

line of the dia

- Divide the class into 2 groups Have one group

repeat Quan’s part, the other repeat Nam’s

- Have the whole class repeat the dia to reinforce

their pronunciation

2.2.Look and say

- Have Ss turn to p70, identify the toys and their

location in the picture Recall the vocabulary

related to toys that Ss have learn in the previous

sections

- Point to the doll in picture and ask: What’s this?

Have a st answer It’s my doll Ask Where’s your

doll? Have another repeat the answer: It’s on the

bed Then have the whole class repeat the question

and answer Do as the same with other objects

- Have Ss work in pairs practise asking and

answering

- Call on some volunteers to perform the task The

rest of the class observe and give comments

- Have the whole class repeat all the questions and

answers to reinforce their pronunciation
