A.Theory:
I COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES: So sánh hơn của tính từ:
Với tính từ ngắn, thêm đuôi “er” sau tính từ Với tính từ dài, thêm “more’’ trước tính từ
Ví dụ:
- China is bigger than India
- My house is bigger than your house
Ví dụ:
- Hanh is more beautiful than Hoa
- Your book is more expensive than his book
*Cách thêm đuôi -er vào tính từ ngắn:
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 phụ âm => thêm đuôi -er old - older near - nearer
Tính từ kết thúc bởi nguyên âm “e” => chỉ cần thêm đuôi “r” nice - nicer
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 nguyên âm (u, e, o, a, i) + 1 phụ âm => gấp
đôi phụ âm cuối và thêm đuôi -er big - bigger hot - hotter fat - fatter fit - fitter
Chú ý: Một số tính từ có hai âm tiết kết thúc bằng “et, ow, le, er, y” thường được xem như ngắn vần
và thêm ER
Ví dụ: quiet –> quieter clever –> cleverer happy - happier
simple –> simpler narrow –> narrower

II SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES: So sánh nhất của tính từ:
S + be + the + adj + -est + (Danh từ) S + be + the + most + adj + (Danh từ)
Với tính từ ngắn, thêm đuôi “est” sau tính
từ
Với tính từ dài, thêm “most’’ trước tính từ
Ví dụ:
- Russia is the biggest country in the
world
- My school is the biggest in the city
Ví dụ:
- Who is the most intelligent in your class?
- This exercise is the most difficult in my
homework.
Cách thêm đuôi –est vào tính từ ngắn
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 phụ âm, thêm đuôi -est old – oldest near – nearest
Tính từ kết thúc bởi nguyên âm “e”, chỉ cần thêm
Tính từ kết thúc bởi 1 nguyên âm (u,e,o,a,i) + 1
phụ âm, gấp đôi phụ âm cuối và thêm đuôi -est big – biggestfat – fattest hot – hottestfit – fittest
Chú ý: Một số tính từ có 2 âm tiết nhưng có tận cùng là “y, le, ow, et, er” thường được xem như ngắn vần và thêm EST
Ví dụ: simple – simplest narrow – narrowest clever – cleverest
quiet –> quietest happy – happiest

DẤU HIỆU NHẬN BIẾT: tomorrow, tonight, next week/month/ Sunday…, in + thời gian (in 2
minutes), I think/ believe, I’m sure, I am afraid;…
Cách sử dụng: Thì tương lai đơn dùng để:
- Diễn tả một quyết định, một ý định nhất thời ngay tại thời điểm nói
- Diễn tả một dự đoán không có căn cứ
- Diễn tả một lời hứa hay lời yêu cầu, đề nghị
- Sử dụng trong câu điều kiện loại một, diễn tả một giả định có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại và tương lai
IV Cách dùng must/ mustn’t:
Cấu trúc - Diễn đạt sự cần thiết, bắt buộc ở hiện tại
hoặc tương lai
- Đưa ra suy luận mang tính chắc chắn, yêu cầu được nhấn mạnh
“mustn’t” có ý nghĩa chỉ sự cấm
đoán
Ví dụ - I must pick up my mom at 5 p.m. - The boy musn’t play baseball in
that garden
V Cách dùng Should/ Shouldn’t:
Should (nên) và Shouldn’t (không nên) dùng để đưa ra lời khuyên
Should là động từ khuyết thiếu, do đó nó không cần chia theo các ngôi và luôn cần một động từ nguyên thể không “to” đi đằng sau
