About Construction Plane (Cplane)
The Cplane is a flat, two dimensional plane on which you create geometry and that can be defined
anywhere in three dimensional space
There are 8 predefined construction planes in Mastercam They are the same as the Graphic Views
To set the desired Cplane, choose Plane, from the Status Bar, and select the desired Cplane.
You can also work in a 3D plane that allows you to draw in unrestricted 3D space You can use the
3D plane while creating geometry that can be related with existing geometry For example, if you
create a line knowing the endpoints or trimming entities up to other entities
To set the 3D plane, choose 3D from the Status Bar.
STEP 2:
CREATE THE CIRCLES IN THE FRONT CONSTRUCTION PLANE.
Select Planes in the Status Bar.
Select Front.
Change the current construction Z depth to 5.0 by entering the value in the Status Bar as shown.

TOOLPATH CREATION
STEP 8:
DEFINE THE STOCK.
Select the Top View from the view toolbar to see the part from the top.
Machine type
Mill
Select MILL 4 AXIS HMC.MMD.
To display the Toolpaths Manager
press Alt + O.
Select the plus in front of Properties to expand the Toolpaths Group
Properties.
Select theplus
Select Stock setup.
Selectstock setup
Trang 20Make sure that you have the same setting in the Bounding Box as
shown to the right
The system automatically establishes the stock size by finding the
extents of the selected geometry
Select the OK button to exit.
The Stock setting should look as shown below
The Stock Origin values adjust
the positioning of the stock,
ensuring that you have equal
amount of extra stock around
the finish part
Display options allows you to
set the stock as Wireframe and
to fit the stock to the screen.(Fit
Screen)
Page 1 20
Trang 21X³ TOMBSTONE PROJECT
Select the Tool Settings tab to set the tool parameters and the part material.
Change the parameters to match the following screenshot
Assign tool numbers sequentially allows
you to overwrite the tool number from the
library with the next available tool number
(First operation=tool number 1; Second
operation=tool number 2, etc.)
Warn of duplicate tool numbers allows
you to get a warning if you enter two tools
with the same number
Override defaults with modal values
enables the system to keep the values that
you enter
Feed Calculation set From tool uses feed
rate, plunge rate, retract rate and spindle
speed from the tool definition
Select the OK button to exit Toolpath Group Properties.
Select the Isometric View from the view toolbar to see the stock.
Trang 22STEP 9:
FACE THE USER DEFINED PLANE (Triangle View).
The tool plane (Tplane) is the plane in which the tool approaches and machines the part The
tool plane represents the CNC machine’s coordinate system (XY axis and origin)
9.1 Change both Cplane and Tplane to Triangle View
Select WCS in the Status Bar.
Select View Manager.
Select the Triangle View
Click on Set your current tool plane
and origin to the selected view
button
Click on Set your current
construction plane and origin to the
selected view button.
Check Enable origin to set the new origin for the plane at the lower left corner based on the view
coordinates
Change the Work Offset # to 0
To set different work offset
for each Tplane, Mastercam
requires that you specify work
offsets in a generic format
Offsets are identified starting
with the number zero and
incremented by one for each
successive offset For
example, in Fanuc controls,
0=G54, 1=G55,
The View Manager will look as
shown to the right
Select the OK button to exit the View Manager name.

allows you to change the Spindle speed, the Feed rate, Plunge rate and Retract rate You can
insert a comment that will be output in the NC file after running the post processor
Select the Facing parameters and change the parameters as shown in the following screenshots
The Facing parameters dialog box allows you to establish the heights for rapid movement
(Clearance)and (Retract); the height from where the tool moves with feedrate (Feed plane); the
Top of stock and the final depth (Depth) Depth and Top of Stock set to Incremental values are
relative to the location of the chained geometry Clearance, Retract, and Feed plane are relative
to the Top of stock.
Select the Depth cuts button to enter the maximum amount of material removed in the z axis with
each rough cut, and set the finish pass
Select the OK button to exit Depth cuts.
