a Maintenance to be performed every 3 months:
Bumpers : Check the bumpers to make sure there is a
gap at each bumper Side bumper gaps should be 1/16
inch maximum End bumper gaps should be 1/8 inch
maximum Adjust the bumpers if needed
b Maintenance to be performed every 6 months (or more frequently for scales that get very heavy use)
Trang 6Approach/Foundation : Check the approaches and
foundation for cracks or damage Check the pit
to make sure it is clean and dry Make sure that
the drain is not blocked and that the sump
pump is working
Bumpers : Check the bumpers to make sure there is a gap at each bumper Side bumper gaps should be 1/16 inch maximum End bumper gaps should be 1/8 inch maximum Adjust the bumpers if needed
Load Cell Cables : Check the load cell cables to make sure
that they are not damaged and that the cables are securely
connected to the load cells The rubber boot on the cable
connector should be tight against the load cell
Make sure a termination connector is correctly installed on
the last load cell in the network
Scale Terminal : Check the brightness of the display
Make sure that the terminal displays a stable weight and
returns to
zero Make sure that no radio or other electronic
equipment is located close enough to interfere with the
terminal Refer to the scale terminal’s manual for
troubleshooting information
Trang 7Calibration: Check the scale’s calibration Check the raw
counts and adjust shimming if required
c Maintenance to be performed every 12 months (or more frequently for scales that get very heavy use)
Load Cells : Jack up the weighbridge and remove each
load cell Clean and inspect the end surfaces of the load
cells
and the receivers Replace any damaged components
Apply load cell lubricant to the end surfaces of the load
cells, and fill the lower receivers with multi-purpose
grease Reinstall the load cells and receivers, making
sure that all shims and debris shields are positioned
correctly
4 Troubleshooting
To help diagnose problems, the scale terminal provides information about each POWERCELL PDX load cell
in the scale network The information includes data about weight, puncture, temperature, voltages, and errors For explanations of any error messages that are displayed by the scale terminal, consult the
terminal’s manual Use the terminal’s manual in conjunction with an updated wiring drawing for your system
tocorrectly diagnose electronic problems
a Check for Mechanical Problems
Trang 8• Check around and under the scale for obstructions Remove
any material or debris that may cause interference between
“live” and “dead” portions of the installation
• Make sure that the scale moves back and forth freely and
that the side and end bumpers are not binding Verify that the
bumper gaps are set correctly
• Check the load cell mounting hardware to make sure nothing
is damaged or loose
• Check the foundation to make sure it is level and not
damaged
b Inspect the Load Cells and Cables
• Make sure the load cells are not damaged
• Make sure the cables are not damaged, loose, or
disconnected
• Make sure the termination connector is properly
installed on the last load cell in the
network
c Check the Terminal’s Diagnostics Data
• Check the scale terminal for error messages Refer to the terminal’s manual for possible causes and remedies for any errors
• The terminal’s diagnostics data should help you identify a faulty load cell or cable
For a network without an external power supply, the voltage should be about 12
VDC for the first load cell in the network and slightly lower for each succeeding load cell For a network with
an external power supply, the voltage should start at about
24 VDC
• If the terminal indicates questionable voltage readings, note which load cells are affected If one load cell in the network is faulty, the voltage readings for the other load cells should be normal If a cable is faulty, the voltage readings for all load cells downstream of the cable should be interrupted Verify that the cable is the problem by disconnecting it from the two load cells and connecting a new cable to the load cells
• If a load cell or cable is faulty, replace it
