I complain a lot about being tired – I think I have some vitamin deficiencies and I do tend to have lower energy levels I wouldn’t say I’m a workaholic, but if the work isn’t done to my standard, then I’m gonna keep going until

Oh, absolutely On Dancing On Ice I was sick the entire time

It was like a cold I couldn’t shake,

or a virus that wouldn’t go away

I was working myself into the ground But I’m used to working through it In the Dolls we kept going, no matter how hard it was

And how hard did it get?

I suffered hearing loss through severe sinus infection and I lost

my sense of smell, which affected

my sense of taste I’m glad I was young enough that it came back

I had syringes up my nose to get steroid shots into my system – we were being worked that hard It was crazy and really intense So

I knew what to expect doing DOI

But it was a good experience

I did and I really liked her I think

it must have been challenging for her – to know the person you love is doing the show, dancing and working so closely with another woman I don’t know that I’m cut from the same cloth, because to me it’s a job It’s like being married to an actor You just have to deal with the love scenes You don’t have a choice

So do you think that Megan overreacted when she called Vanessa out?

I’m not going to say that because I’m not in her shoes But in general it’s important

to love yourself and then be confident the person you’re with loves you back

It would be someone who’s in the industry and someone who understands it Someone who is creative, but isn’t the main talent

or the principal on the bill And that’s not because I want the spotlight on me – it’s because I find women in the industry very different to male talent Men in the spotlight need a lot of ego stroking, whereas women don’t

I tend to click with other creative people – guys who create stuff, you know, directors, producers, people like that

I really would But I have to find the right guy I’d be up for freezing

he did go to prison for murder He killed a young man

How did that affect you?

I did a lot of reading up about stalking and I learned how hard

it was to get anything done

My stalker had terrorised other women, too – one was assaulted

so badly she lost her hearing

I had people follow me home when I was in the Dolls, but I was never afraid because of what

I had already been through

I never had the pleasure of meeting Michael Jackson He and Whitney Houston

are my favourite entertainers

of all time

What did you make of the

documentary Leaving Neverland?

I haven’t given it any energy

One of the accusers, Wade Robson, choreographed Britney Spears and NSYNC – did The Pussycat Dolls know him too?

That whole thing was right before the Dolls blew up I’ve never

actually met him But

I did meet Britney

We supported her on the Circus tour in 2009

What was she like then? That was after her breakdown…

She was the cutest Southern girl So pleasant and lovely She had fabulous manners, but she seemed really shy It was a time

when she was going through it She was fighting for custody of her sons and she fought hard

She’s really sweet and fun, but she’s a tough chick

Have you got any more stories from your Hollywood party days?

There was one producer in Hollywood – I’m not going to identify him, but he’s a famous name – he held the best A-list parties at his house We’d go over and it would be wall-to-wall A-listers – Rosario Dawson, Quincy Jones, Seal… We’d all just get up and sing together

And many a great Vegas night was had too! We’d be up all night for those I definitely do not stay up late any more My friends call me grandma I’m

in bed by 8pm!

Go Dating?

I’m not shy when it comes to

dating I actually thought I would

be really good at it as I’ve done

it all my life, but it turns out I’m

shit! I’m a big people pleaser

and have often given people

false expectations, because I

don’t want to hurt anyone The

biggest thing I’ve learned was

how people can be affected by

my dishonesty

What else have you learned from

the agents?

I date too many people at the

same time and there’s often an

overlap, which

is a bad thing

They drummed that one into

me I’ve made lots of mistakes, but despite what people think, I’m not a horrible person That’s the great thing about Celebs Go Dating It has really helped with some of my demons and now I feel like I have a blank canvas

to start a relationship without any hang-ups

That’s great news! So did you find anyone special on your dates?

They were all a bit too keen If they are offering it on a plate then you don’t really want it I think any bloke or woman would feel like that If you are too keen, it’s off-putting When you have to work at it, you want it more

You opened up about your dad leaving when you were young

Was that hard?

The agency made me become a bit more vulnerable and open up

a bit more I wasn’t prepared to delve so deeply into my dad and

my family I’m very private about them My mum and my nan are

my best mates When I get married, my nan will be my best man

That’s the truth and she really is my best mate She’s just turned

80 and has heart and liver failure I took her to see The Tina Turner Musical for her birthday and she almost fell off the balcony because she was trying

to dance in the box She is the loveliest woman

How has your dad leaving affected you?

My dad leaving when

I was little has had a lot of positive and negative effects on

me I’ve made a lot of mistakes in

my past and I own responsibility for those But I had to grow up when I was really young I was concentrating on being the man

of the house, on making money and being there for my family I didn’t have my first girlfriend until Megan McKenna, when I was 26

I didn’t have a first love at 16 to learn mistakes from I’ve been a really late starter when it comes

to love and relationships

What about the positives?

It has made me appreciate my mum and nan and everything they

do for me I believe in marriage and soulmates and it’s made me picky about who I give myself to

You can have fun, sex and a laugh

with anyone, but the emotional side I find really hard to give someone When I do find The One and give everything, it will mean

so much more I accept all the mistakes I’ve made, but when you come from a background that is not your normal 2.4 children, it can affect you

How does it feel being

a sex symbol?

I wouldn’t say I am a sex symbol – I’ve got that weathered mysterious look They like that I’m the rough old man next to the younger pretty boys!

I am actually the oldest boy now on TOWIE, which is horrific

There’s Dan Edgar, who is the most beautiful man in the world, and then there’s me looking like a dirty pirate If I didn’t have long hair I’d be f**ked!

Will you ever cut your hair?

It is going to go soon I had a skinhead for 15 years before the long hair Now I’m 30 I look in

a mirror and think I’m too old to have long hair If I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it properly with a skinhead I have already said that

if I do it, I’ll do it for the Prince’s Trust charity But then I’m scared

it might never grow back!

How do you cope with online trolls?

The reason I’ve never had my family on [social media] and I’m private about them is because

I couldn’t handle anyone being horrible about them I don’t mind

if people give me abuse, but I couldn’t cope if they were horrible
