How to setup Nomadix and Micros Fidelio PMS ?

Nomadix is delivering reliable High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) in Hotel Locations of all

sizes, airports, conference centers and hospitals and at the same time offer guest satisfaction, additional services to your guests and revenue generation are the key words in the hospitality environment

All kinds of hospitality locations that provide HSIA to their guests are rapidly becoming a destination of choice for travellers who need to stay connected to the office These travellers are ready and willing to pay a premium for fast, seamless connectivity to the Internet, corporate e-mail, databases and other network resources

The question is not “if” a property/venue should deploy HSIA but "how" to do it in a cost effective and profitable manner Nomadix is the only company that provides a range of platforms to accommodate hospitality properties from 20 to 2,000 rooms

Depending on your number of hotel rooms, floors, conference rooms, garden area, pools, business lounges, office centers, or even your internal network where HSIA coverage is required you can choose chose between the following Nomadix platforms:

Universal Subscriber Gateway™ II (USG II): optimally suited for larger properties of

250 to 2,000 simultaneous users This can even be expanded by using additional II’s

USG-HotSpot Gateway™ (HSG): for medium-sized locations from 50 to 150 users This can

even be expanded by using additional HSG’s

Therefore, the Nomadix platform supports PMS payment for users of the Visitor Based Network (Hot-Spot) This feature is especially designed for this environment and very useful for Hotels, Conference centers, Airports and hospitals

The Nomadix Gateway functionality for PMS payment is enabled through the purchase of the PMS/Hospitality module This will enable the handshake protocol required for PMS payments

The Nomadix is a 100% certified for use with Micros Fidelio PMS systems The Nomadix Gateway send billing information to the PMS system when authorizing the End User for the requested amount of time purchased

Micros Fidelio Interfaces

1 - Using the Uni-Driver (Serial or TCPIP connection)

2 – Using the Two way communication (Serial connection only)

1- Interfacing to the One Way communication (Called Posting using the UNI driver directional))

(Uni-One Way = The Nomadix HSG/USG is only sending information to the PMS system

This method is sending the billing information from the Nomadix xSG to the PMS system

– This billing information contains

Two Way Communication (called Query and Post (Bi-directional))

The Nomadix is sending room information to the PMS system The PMS system will answer back to the Nomadix system with Room number, User Name and registration number If this matches the credentials that the user has entered, the Nomadix system will authorize the customer to go to the internet

Nomadix installation guidelines

The Nomadix interface to Micros Fidelio is certified

USG EAME-certification.pd

1- Setup the Nomadix system as described in the Quick configuration guide delivered in the box

2- Configure your VLAN switch

1- Connect the switch to the Nomadix system

2- Example: The switch is connected to the USG/HSG using Port 1

a Setup the switch in PORT BASED VLAN’s

3- All ports reside in the default VLAN (unless tagged otherwise)

4- To enable the switch to pass the VLAN tag you must tell the default VLAN that Port

1 must be tagged

5- To do this, select Configuration on the main menu of the Web interface to the

switch and select VLANs This brings up the default VLAN settings As you will see, all ports are listed but none are currently tagged

Configuration examples for several switches are available on the Nomadix FTP site

3- Enable Vlan support on the USG/HSG/AG

Go to Configuration/Port-Location Enable 802.1Q Two Way

Port 1 – Trunk Port to the Nomadix - Tagged Ports going to Rooms - UnTagged Ports going to Wifi Access point - UnTagged

4- From the Web Interface, go to the Subscribers administration menu and select the

Current menu item You should see the authorized user and “1” in the Port section If

you have assigned a different VLAN to another port, when you plug in the machine to

the other port and launch a Web browser, this menu item (Subscribers/Current) will

reflect the new port assignment

5- Port Mapping = Mapping a Port / VLAN to a room number in the PMS system

Administrators can set the properties for each room from the subscriber side of the

USG/HSG The system automatically detects which port number the administrator is using and allows them to enter the fields for the room corresponding to the port they are using

Please setup your Port Mapping

Go to the Port-Location Menu

Go to Add Please repeat it until all ports are mapped to a room number

Please verify your Port Mappings

Goto the Port-Location Menu Goto List

Please verify if the Room number is displayed next to the Port number

MICROS FIDELIO – POST ONLY using Serial connection

Please activate Micros Fidelio (POST ONLY) in Pre or Post Paid mode

MICROS FIDELIO – POST ONLY using TCPIP connection

Please activate Micros Fidelio (POST ONLY with TCPIP) in Pre or Post Paid mode

Pre Paid mode means that the charging will be done before authentication

Post Paid mode means that the charging will be done when disconnecting from the Internet service

To verify that everything is working,

1- Serial interface : please connect the Serial port of the USG/HSG to the Micros Fidelio Interface PC/System using the serial cable provided with the unit

2- TCPIP interface : Please connect the Nomadix network port on the same network as the Micros Fidelio Interface PC

a IP Address = IP address of the Interface PC

b Port = 5001

1- Activate AAA

2- Under AAA/internal webserver , activate New Subscribers

3- Under subscriber interface/Billing Options, activate one of the billing plans

a Standard billing plan in Pre-Paid or Post Paid mode

b X over Y billing plan

4- Connect a client PC to the Switch and start the browser

5- Click on New User

6- Select one of the billing options

7- Confirm / Purchase

8- Posting is than performed to the Micros Fidelio system

14- The Nomadix system will ask you for some extra information

a Username (= username in Fidelio)

e You can check this in Fidelio Front Office (see below)

f This information should be handed out to the customer when doing the Check-In

Where can you verify the Posting using Front Office ?

1- In the Interface (Serial or TCPIP)

2- In Fidelio Front Office

1- Start Fidelio and login

In this screen, you will see the posting and the posting details under the selected room

Where can you verify the posting using Opera ?

1- In the Interface (Serial or TCPIP)

3- In Fidelio Opera

Please do the following steps

Start Fidelio and login

Room number // Amount

Goto Cashier and select the Room and you can check the posting and posting details under the selected

room

An Invoice can be made when the customer checks out of the hotel See example

site with Fidelio Suite 8 )

All versions refer to the current Nomadix specification (Micros2700), as of development from 2001/2002 Other protocol versions from Nomadix system are currently not supported by this interface

All interface SW and HW are installed by certified Micros Fidelio Resellers
