• Have chldren tell a slly story, usng as many basc concept words as they can The teacher can wrte t for them on the board or overhead projector Ask the students to help find the concept words n the story.

• Use blank cards to make a deck of the 100 basc concepts n ths book Shuffle and place the concept cards face up Have students take turns findng a concept par that matches Do not

nclude color or shape cards.

• When focusng on a partcular concept, for example, “hard/soft,” fill a bag wth objects that are hard and soft The chldren take turns reachng nto the bag and tellng f the tem s hard or soft.

• Play “I Spy” by placng colorful pctures or posters around the room, and say to the chldren, “The pcture that I spy s under the wndow The pcture

I spy s round.”

• Ask the chldren to play wth a dollhouse or farmhouse Ask the chld to put the horse “n” the stable Put the doll “under” her blanket.
