When we talk about the things we do every day (our routines) we

use the present simple.

Let’s look at some of the sentences in Indie’s email to Emma

Emma: What time do you wake up?

Indie: I wake up at 7am.

Emma: What do you do before school?

Indie: I get dressed, have breakfast and

brush my teeth.

Emma: What do you do at school?

Indie: We have lunch then we start class.

In questions, we use do + infinitive.

In answers we use the present simple.

Let’s practise!

I get home from school at 4:30 pm

2 Fold the thread in half and knot in the

middle You now have six strands of

thread

3 Tape the knot to your desk.

4 Starting from left to right, use the

thread on the left to make a double knot around each of the other strings (look at illustration to see what a double knot looks like)

5 Use the yellow thread on the far left to

make a double knot around the red thread,

then use the second red and the green;

then the second green then the yellow

6 The thread we used for knotting is now on

the left and there’s a diagonal row of knots

across our bracelet

7 Again, starting from left to right, pick up

the next thread and repeat the process

8 Continue this process of taking the left

hand thread and double knotting all the

way across the other threads until your

bracelet is long enough to tie around your

wrist

9 Tie a simple knot at the end of your bracelet

and tie it around your friend’s wrist

A friendship bracelet is given by one person to another as

a symbol of friendship Boys and girls wear them They are

made of colourful thread

Materials: 3 strands of embroidery thread, 182 cm long.
