The characters
• The characters were inspired by the stuffed animals of Milne’s son
• Was a student at his fathers school – where one of his techers was H.G Wells
• Studied Mathematics at Cambridge – started writing
• Wrote for Punch Magazine – later became its editor
• Was a soldier in both world wars
• Wrote for adults as well – but later was mostly known for his „Pooh” books and poems for children
• In 1924 'When We Were Very Young‘- a book of childrens’ poems was published (includes a poem about a Teddy Bear who "however hard he tries grows tubby without exercise„)
• In 1925 that Pooh officially came into being In a bedtime story that Milne had made up for his son (Christopher Robin) about adventures he had with his Teddy Bear
• The original illustrations were drawings by Punch illustrator, Ernest Shepard
