soạn nó theo mức độ khó dần Mỗi bài đọc đều có số điểm TOEIC tương ứng để các em

PHẦN 1:

BÍ QUYẾT LÀM BÀI ĐỌC HIỂU TIẾNG ANH TOEIC

Có bao giờ các em cảm thấy việc đọc hiểu một đoạn văn hay một bài báo bằng tiếng

Anh mất rất nhiều thời gian? Có bao giờ các em cảm thấy bị choáng ngợp bởi từ mới

trong bài đọc? Làm thế nào để cải thiện kĩ năng đọc hiểu? Hoặc làm thế nào để có thể

ghi điểm cao ở phần đọc hiểu?

Để trả lời cho những câu hỏi và giải đáp những thắc mắc trên các các em hãy tham khảo

một số bí quyết sau nhé:

1 Trước hết hãy nâng cao kỹ năng đọc

Đọc hiểu yêu cầu các em phải có động lực, một lượng kiến thức nền để lưu giữ các ý

tưởng, sự tập trung cao độ và một phương pháp học tốt Dưới đây là một số gợi ý:

§ Mở rộng kiến thức nền Mở rộng kiến thức nền bằng việc thường xuyên đọc

báo, tạp chí vá sách vở.Hãy quan tâm đến những sự kiện thế giới Những điều tưởng

chừng như“ngoài tầm phủ sóng” về các lĩnh vực các em quan tâm lại có thể rất hữu

ích cho việc đọc của các em sau này

§ Nắm chắc bố cục của đoạn văn cần đọc Một người viết tốt thường có bố cục

giống một đoạn làm văn có 3 phần: mở đầu, phần thânvà kết luận Thông thường,

câu mở đầu đưa ra một chủ đề chung và chủ đềnày sẽ được phát triển ở phần thân

Bên cạnh đó, cũng nên tìm kiếm những từ, cụm từ chuyển tiếp hay các đoạn văn mở

rộng chủ đề

§ Suy đoán Một người đọc thực thụ sẽ cố gắng phỏng đoán xem tác giả muốn nói

gì Họ thường tự đặt ra những câu hỏi và tự trả lời Nếu phán đoán là đúng, nó sẽ

củng cố hiểu biết của các em Nếu phán đoán sai, nó sẽ giúp cho nhữngphán đoán

của các em nhanh hơn

§ Tìm hiểu cách tổ chức bài đọc Điều mà các các em cần quan tâm là tìm xem bài

đọc được tổ chức, sắp xếptheo thứ tự nào: theo thứ tự thời gian, không gian, sự kiện,

logic haychức năng…

§ Tạo động lực và hứng thú Xem qua tài liệu, đặt câu hỏi, thảo luận với các các

em trong lớp Hứng thú của các em càng cao thì việc đọc của các em đem lại kết quả

càng lớn

§ Hãy chú ý đến các gợi ý xung quanh bài đọc Hãy nghiên cứu kĩ tranh, ảnh

hoặc tiêu đề Đọc đoạn văn đầu tiên và đoạn văn cuối cùng trong một chương

Trong một phần nên đọc kĩ câu đầu tiên hoặc câu cuối cùng Đây là những phần có

ý nghĩa rất quan trọng đối với việc hiểu bài đọc

§ Đánh dấu, tóm tắt và xem lại Đọc một quyển sách một lần là chưa đủ Để đọc

hiểu sâu hơn các em phải đánh dấu, tóm tắt và xem lại các ý chính

§ Xây dựng một vốn từ vựng phong phú Đốivới hầu hết những người được giáo

dục, đó là kế hoạch của cả đời người.Cách tốt nhất để làm phong phú vốn từ vựng là

thường xuyên sử dụng từ điển Các em có thể mang theo bên mình một cuốn từ điển

bỏ túi để tra từ mới hoặc lập một danh sách những từ mới trong ngày mình gặp để

tối tra Hãy chú ý đến nguồn gốc, tiền tố hay hậu tố của chúng

§ Sử dụng phương pháp đọc có hệ thống như SQR3 Hãy phát triển một phong

cách đọc có hệ thống chẳng hạn như SQR3 – Survey (nghiên cứu), Questions (đặt

câu hỏi), Read (đọc), Recite (trích dẫn), Review (ôn lại) Mỗi phương pháp đều phải

phụ thuộc vào tính ưu tiên cũng như mục đích của việc đọc

§ Điều khiển tính hiệu quả Một người đọc giỏi sẽ biết cách điều khiển sự chú ý,

tập trung hay mức độ hiệu quả của mình Họ nhanh chóng nhận ra là mình vừa bỏ

qua ý nào và nhanh chóng quay lại đọc nó

2 Áp dụng phương pháp đọc hiểu cho phù hợp và hiệu quả với đọc hiểu TOEIC

 SKIMMING

Skimming là gì?

Là đọc lướt qua tất cả các ý chính của bài essay chứ không đi sâu vào nội dung của bất kỳ

đoạn nào Các em thực hiện phần đọc này nhanh chóng bằng cách đọc qua tiêu đề để thấy

nội dung bài viết, đọc các topic sentences và concluding sentences vì các đoạn trong

tiếng anh chủ yếu được viết theo hai cách là diễn dịch và quy nạp, chú ý hơn vào

các danh từ quan trọng để qua đó nắm đuộc nội dung chính

Khi nào nên áp dụng?

Khi mà đoạn văn quá dài và thời gian thì có hạn Skimming giúp các em đọc được nội

dung chính cũng như quan điểm mà tác giả muốn nếu lên trong từng đoạn, xem tác giả

đang phản đối, đồng tình hay trung lập, nắm bắt được những thông tin quan trọng qua đó

quyết định được các em nên đi sâu vào đọc đoạn đó hay không

Các bước để thực hiện skimming?

+ Đọc phần title của bài viết, sau đó đọc đoạn mở đầu để xác định được nội dung chính

trong bài viết

+ Đọc các câu chủ đề của từng đoạn, các câu chủ đề này thường là câu đầu tiên của bài

text Nhưng đôi khi đoạn văn lại được mở đầu bằng câu hỏi hay câu dẫn dắt, thì khi

đó topic sentence lại thường nằm cuối đoạn

+ Đọc vào đoạn văn, chú ý trả lời các câu hỏi who, what, which, where, when, why

Những từ quan trọng trong đoạn văn các các em nên nắm bắt thường được ẩn nấp dưới

dạng danh từ, số từ, các từ được in đậm hay viết hoa

Người đọc cần nắm được logic trình bày của bài bằng cách dựa vào các marking words

(từ dấu hiệu) như: because, firstly (đầu tiên), secondly (thứ hai), finally (cuối cùng), but

(nhưng), then (sau đó), includes (bao gồm) và những từ chỉ thời gian khác, v.v

Những từ này sẽ giúp cho người đọc nhanh chóng nhận ra đoạn văn được trình bày theo

cách nào: listing (liệt kê), comparison-contrast (so sánh - đối lập), time-order (theo thứ

tự thời gian), và cause-effect (nguyên nhân-kết quả) Các em thấy đấy kỹ

năng skimming rất quan trọng vì vậy hãy cố gắng giúp mình nắm được kỹ năng này một

cách thành thạo nhé!

Đọc từ trên xuống dưới và từ trái qua phải với một tốc độ nhanh Đây là đọc lấy ý

nên các các em không nên bỏ qua bất cứ đoạn nào của bài để “lướt” cho nhanh vì như

vậy sẽ rất dễ bị mất ý

 SCANNING

Scanning là gì?

Là đọc nhanh bài viết thật nhanh với mục đích tìm kiếm dữ liệu, thông tin cụ thể cần thiết

cho việc trả lời câu hỏi Scanning cực kì quan trọng trong bài thi đọc IELTS vì đôi khi

qua phần Skimming các em đã nắm bắt được những ý chính nhưng để trả lời được câu

hỏi phần reading các em cần chú ý vào cách sử dụng từ ngữ của tác giả nếu không sẽ rất

dễ bị đánh lừa Scanning được áp dụng cho các dạng bài như True – False – Not given,

multiple choices, complete the summary…

Khi nào áp dụng Scanning?

Scanning được áp dụng khi cần tìm kiếm các dữ liệu trong bài viết như tên riêng, số liệu,

ngày tháng, hoặc các cụm từ mà không cần nắm được nội dung của bài text

Các bước cần có khi scanning?

+Phân tích cách tổ chức bài khóa trước khi bắt đầu scanning

+ Luôn luôn định hướng và ghi nhớ trong đầu rằng các em đang tìm kiếm thông tin gì Và

định hướng đó là loại thông tin gì, danh từ riêng hay số từ, ngày tháng … Càng định hình

được dữ liệu cụ thể, các em càng đỡ mất thời gian

+ Các em cần xác định xem thông tin đó có trong đoạn nào của bài viết theo trí nhớ có

được sau phần skimming và “quét” một lượt để định vị chính xác vị trí của thông tin cần

tìm Thông tin có thể được sắp xếp theo vần hay theo thứ tự thời gian vì vậy các em có

thể căn cứ vào điều này để xác định dễ dàng hơn

+ Dừng lại trước thông tin cần tìm và đọc những câu có liên quan đến thông tin đó để bắt

gặp được điều mà tác giả đang muốn hỏi người đọc và trả lời câu hỏi Các em cần thực sự

chú ý vào các cấu trúc câu phức được dùng trong bài viết vì nó rất dễ khiến các em bối

rối và nhầm lẫn đó

3 Bí quyết làm bài Reading TOEIC

Thật ra các em không cần thiết phải hiểu hết từng câu từng chữ mới có thể hiểu nội dung

bài đọc Để hoàn thành tốt bài Đọc-Hiểu, quan trọng nhất là bằng mọi cách các em phải

hiểu được ý tác giả muốn nói Một số kỹ thuật sau đây có thể hỗ trợ các em khi làm bài

Đọc-Hiểu:

-Trước hết hãy đọc câu hỏi Đọc câu hỏi trước, chưa vội đọc các lựa chọn trả lời Khi

các em đã biết được kiểu câu hỏi phải trả lời thì sẽ dễ dàng tìm ra câu trả lời hơn

- Đọc lướt hay đọc nhanh bài đọc: đừng đọc từng chữ hay đọc một cách chi tiết, đọc

nhanh để tìm ý chính và cấu trúc chung của bài Bằng cách đọc lướt các em sẽ nắm được

nội dung mà bài đọc muốn đề cập

- Khi làm bài đọc hiểu, nếu thấy bài văn quá dài các em đừng vội nản lòng, đọc lướt từng

đoạn nhỏ và quan trọng là áp dụng 1 kĩ thuật GẠCH CHÂN TỪ KHÓA

- Sau khi đã hoàn tất việc đọc lướt qua từ khóa giờ là lúc các em quay lại đọc lại để nắm

chắc ý Thi bằng hình thức trắc nghiệm nên khi so sánh giữa từ khóa và câu hỏi và các ý

trong câu lựa chọn A,B,C,D Với cách này, chí ít các các em cũng chọn được 6,7 câu rồi

- Phải quyết đoán, khi vừa hình thành liên kết ý chắc chắn với câu trả lời các em cứ

khoanh ngay, tự tin vào lựa chọn của mình

- Để những câu khó lại sau cùng

- Đoán khi các em ko biết câu trả lời: khi đoán, trước hết hãy dùng phương pháp loại trừ

+ Các câu hỏi đọc hiểu thường có 1 lựa chọn đúng, 1 lựa chọn gần đúng và 2 lựa chọn

sai, hãy sử dụng linh cảm hay cảm giác khi ko thể quyết định đâu là câu trả lời đúng

+ Nếu các em ko biết câu trả lời hay dùng 1 chữ cái đoán (A,B,C hoặc D) Hãy dùng 1

chữ cái trả lời mọi câu hỏi các em ko biết xuyên suốt 1 bài thi, dùng 1 chữ cái sẽ cho các

em cơ may lớn hơn để có câu trả lời đúng

- Trả lời mọi câu hỏi: đừng bỏ sót bất kì câu hỏi nào dù các em ko làm được, nếu ko còn

đủ thời gian, hãy sử dụng kĩ thuật đoán bằng chữ cái cho các câu còn lại

- Nếu còn thời gian sau khi làm xong bài thi, hãy đọc bài đọc một lần nữa, chú ý vào các

câu, các đoạn các em chưa hiểu lắm và xem lại các đáp án mình đã lựa chọn

- Để nâng cao khả năng reading, trong quá trình ôn thi, các em cần cải thiện vốn từ

vựng, đọc thật nhiều để không quên từ đã học và học thêm từ mới Quan trọng hơn tăng

cường kiến thức cho mình, có thể các em sẽ gặp những vấn đề tương tự như vậy trong bài

thi Nếu đã quen với topic thì vấn đề sẽ đơn giản hơn nhiều

- Tốc độ đọc là một vấn đề, bởi mỗi câu chỉ có 1 phút, các em không thể để mất thời gian

qua nhiều Hãy đọc và hiểu mình đã đọc cái gì là tốt nhất, trên cơ sở hiểu có thể giải

quyết nhiều câu hỏi trong khoảng thời gian ngắn Đọc nhanh mà không hiểu thì rồi cũng

phải đọc lại , đọc chậm quá sẽ tăng sức ép về thời gian trong lúc trả lời, rất dễ mắc sai

lầm - Hãy làm nhiều đề thi để có thể học từ vựng cũng như biết cách phân chia thời gian

làm bài hợp lý

Nên đọc scanning như thế nào?

Đưa mắt thật nhanh nhìn vào nhiều dòng cùng một lúc

Khi tìm thấy thông tin hãy dừng lại và đọc toàn bộ câu hay đoạn chứa thông tin

Các em có thể đọc theo đường zic zắc từ dưới lên trên và từ phải qua trái để chắc chắn

rằng các em không bị chú ý vào nội dung của bài text Nhớ là khi scanning các em chỉ

đọc lướt qua chứ không cần chú ý đến nội dung bài viết

Các em cần luyện tập đọc thường xuyên và khi đọc nhiều, các em sẽ có cơ hội thực hành

tốt hai kĩ năng trên, áp dụng nó một cách hiệu quả

Tóm lại: có nhiều các em chưa nắm vững về định nghĩa và cách sử dụng hai kĩ năng này

thì bài viết của mình rất hy vọng mang lại thêm kiến thức cho các các em Hai kĩ năng

trên sẽ giúp các các em vượt qua được bài đọc hóc búa và đạt điểm cao Ngoài ra các em

cũng cần chú ý đến tốc độ đọc cần đạt được để ghi điểm cao nhé

PHÀN 2: BÀI TẬP ỨNG DỤNG

Phần 2 là các bài tập đọc hiểu hay, đặc trưng trong TOEIC Đặc biệt cô Trang đã biên

soạn nó theo mức độ khó dần Mỗi bài đọc đều có số điểm TOEIC tương ứng để các em

dễ dàng mường tượng

Đọc hiểu hiểu trong TOEIC part 7 trong phần này, thí sinh đọc các đoạn văn và một số

câu hỏi nằm bên dưới mỗi đoạn TOEIC part 7 (đọc hiểu - 48 câu) : 50-55p, làm đoạn văn

đơn trước, đoạn văn đôi sau Thí sinh đọc 4 phương án trả lời cho mỗi câu hỏi và chọn

phương án trả lời đúng nhất bằng cách bôi đen vào ô tròn tương ứng với câu trả lời A, B,

C hoặc D trong tờ bài làm Dùng các kĩ năng đọc lướt, scan, skim và keyword trong câu

hỏi và trả lời để chọn đáp án đúng
