I Introduction

Tesco is one of the world’s largest retailers, selling products to millions of customers through its stores and online Tesco Ireland launched first store with the acquisition of Associated British Foods’ Irish retail operations in 1997 and has continuously expanded to 142 stores with annual revenue is €2,715 mil In October 2000, Tesco Ireland launched tesco.ie for Dublin community to shop online They have 250,000 online register customers covering 82% of the population (Anon, 2013) Their online business performed very well, increased 15% in sales and 12.5% in orders (Anon, 2011)

The Tesco Ireland provides two mobile app for two most popular mobile operation system iOS and Android In iTunes, the current version is 1.2 and has about thousands of users In Google Play, the newest version is 1.1 and has over 10,000 users Both versions were last updated in June 2013 and have same functions With this mobile app, users can shop online securely, browse the latest and greatest offers, search the products by category or price, find the way to the nearest store, find out the opening hours or contact details, and share good deals via social media and access to thousands of recipes and tips However, the rating about iOS and Android app are not so good, only 2.5 stars and 3.3 star respectively Some typical reviews are: “This app is very poor” (Evelyn Morris), “Absolute crap” (Nicola Monaghan) or even “Rubbish” (Michael Dineen)

Although we cannot improve the quality of physical products, we can plan to make the mobile app become friendlier and provide more benefits for the customers when using this app

II Requirement

Generally, a shopping app needs to fulfil these following design and functional requirements:

- User-friendly interface

- Providing users with access to full catalogue of products which is the same to the catalogue in Tesco’s website

- Supporting users to find stores nearby

- Supporting different payment methods

Although to some extent, Tesco Ireland app implemented the aforementioned features, but they are not good enough to satisfy customers: It is rated only 2.5/5 stars in AppStore Even
