• By: cho đến, trước (ngụ ý không trễ hơn)

Till/ Until: cho đến, cho tới khi (một thời điểm được nói rõ)

Before: trước khi (không rõ khi nào) Not before = not until/till

• On time: đúng giờ (còn dư thời gian để làm gì)

In time: kịp thời, kịp lúc (không dư thời gian)

• In: vào, trong (chỉ việc gì đó diễn ra nhanh cỡ nào)

During: trong, suốt một khoảng thời gian (chỉ 1 hành động kéo dài suốt 1 khoảng thời gian xác định)

For: trong (chỉ khoảng thời gian sự việc diễn ra)

• Since: từ khi (chỉ mốc thời gian sự việc, hành động xảy ra)

• Above: cao hơn, ở trên (nói một cách tổng quát), thường dùng để diễn tả một vật không nằm ngay trên một

vật khác, hoặc dùng để chỉ nhiệt độ và độ cao

Over: cao hơn, ngay trên (nói một cach cụ thể), bao phủ, ở phía bên kia của…, thường dùng để diễn tả một

vật che phủ hoặc có chạm vào vật khác, hoặc để chỉ tuổi tác và tốc độ

• Below: thấp hơn, ở dưới (nói một cách tổng quát), thường dùng để diễn tả một vật không nằm ngay trên một

vật khác, hoặc dùng để chỉ nhiệt độ và độ cao

Under: thấp hơn, ngay dưới (nói một cách cụ thể), thường dùng để diễn tả một vật che phủ hoặc có chạm

vào vật khác, hoặc để chỉ tuổi tác và tốc độ

• Between: ở giữa lớn hơn hoặc bằng 2 người/vật

Among: ở giữa lớn hơn hoặc bằng 3 người/vật, một đám đông

• Near = Close to: gần (dùng cho khoảng cách ngắn)

• By = Beside = Next to: bên cạnh
