We use (have) been to when we want to mean that someone has gone to a place and already returned.

((have) been to được dùng trong tình huống một người nào đó đi đến một nơi nào đó và đã quay về rồi, hiện

tại không có ở nơi đó)

E.g: Have you ever been to China? – No, but I’ve been to Taiwan (This person has visited Taiwan before

and came back already He / She is not there now.)

Where have you been? – I’ve been to ABC bookshop (This person went to the bookshop and

already came back, he / she is not at the bookshop now.)

 Generally, (have) been to is used to express someone’s past experience

E.g: He’s been to Britain four times.

We use (have) gone to when we want to mean that someone has gone to a place but has not returned

yet She / He is still there.

E.g: Josh has gone to the bank He should be back soon (John is still at the bank.)

Emily has gone to Paris for a week She’ll be back here tomorrow (Emily is still in Paris.)

Note: (have) been there = (have) visited there

(have) been / gone TO there
