Evolving at the Pace Right for You

There are currently two main scenarios for building a packet-based backhaul network:

1 As an overlay in parallel to an existing legacy network and/or for greenfield locations

2 As a converged network infrastructure providing multiple services (HSI, Video, VoIP, etc.) for residential and business customers, where mobile traffic is simply one of these services

In the overlay scenario, the focus is on cost effectively handling mobile traffic while coping with the huge growth in data traffic due to bandwidth-intensive applications and the need to preserve the quality of voice services provided by legacy networks Although focused on mobile traffic, the solution should be flexible and scalable enough to address potential future changes that will be brought about by additional applications and services

In the converged network infrastructure scenario, mobile operators that are adding multiplay services, as well as fixed network operators (MSOs, utilities, ILEC/CLECs) acting as a Carrier of Carriers for mobile operators, build a single infrastructure designed for optimal transport of both mobile and fixed services
