When Susan skips, her skipping rope Goes whirling round and round
She moves so fast, she hardly seems
To step upon the ground
And though you’d think she’s sure to fall, She never, never slips
Everybody says, “Hurrah!”
Whenever Susan skips
Trang 3When Susan sighs, she’s doing math
Of that you may be sure
For Susan says that math’s a thing She simply can’t endure
The answers never will come right
No matter how she tries, And everybody wants to help Whenever Susan sighs
Trang 4When Susan scowls, she’d better turn Her back to everyone
To see her frown so horribly
Is anything but fun
So nasty does she make her face That everybody howls
For everyone is terrified Whenever Susan scowls
Trang 5When Susan sleeps, the little mice Come nibbling at her toe
But if she suddenly awoke, How quickly they would go!
See how tight her eyes are shut And see how still she keeps
Everybody says to “Hush!”
Whenever Susan sleeps

Trang 6When Susan’s shy, it’s very hard
To make her speak a word
And when she does, she whispers so Her voice is barely heard
She puts her finger in her mouth And seems to want to cry,
Yet everyone’s so nice to her Whenever Susan’s shy
Trang 7When Susan’s sick, poor little girl, She has to go to bed
She doesn’t want to laugh or play— She wants to sleep instead
The doctor comes to check on her And says her pulse is quick
Everybody worries so Whenever Susan’s sick

Trang 8When Susan sews, her stitches are Extremely neat and small
And if she takes the greatest care, They hardly show at all
She sits up straight, and in and out Her shining needle goes
Everyone is pleased with her Whenever Susan sews
Trang 9When Susan sneers—oh, horrible!
What’s she sneering at?
It must be something very bad
To make her look like that
The flowers droop and hang their heads, The sunshine disappears,
And everybody shrivels up Whenever Susan sneers

Trang 10When Susan sings, her little voice Sounds sweet and clear and true Her little mouth she opens wide Just as she ought to do
Her songs are all of flowers, birds, And lambs, and happy things And everybody wants to sing Whenever Susan sings
