I Aims/Objectives

1 Educational aim

- To consolidate and practice the vocabulary as well as grammar in Unit 1-2-3

- To encourage appropriate communication

2 Knowledge and skills:

* General language knowledge: Lexico of Units 1, 2,3

- Lexico/Vocabulary: Pronunciation/Phonetics:

+ Words and phrases that have been studied in unit 1, 2, 3

- Grammatical structures/items:

- Structures: verb tenses ( present simple, past simple, past perfect) and verb forms ( to infinitive and gerund)

- Use of language: word choice, synonyms

* Skills:

- Integrated language skills:

+ Listening and speaking skills are partly practiced by discussing exercises

+ Writing: sentence building, sentence transformation

- Practice skills: improve skills of doing different types of exercises

Exercise 1: Choose the best answer

Exercise 2: Put the verbs into the correct form

Exercise 3: Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form

Exercise 4: Rewrite the sentences

Exercise 5: Rewrite these sentences base on available information

II Preparation:

GRAMMAR: VERB TENSE AND VERB FORM

* Methods/techniques of teaching and learning: repetition, pair work, group work

PRESENTAION

- T calls on some sts to

present the usage of the

tenses one by one and

give an example for

each tense

Present simple

Use: we use the present simple for

• thoughts and feelings

• states, things staying the same

• facts and things that are true for a long time

• repeated actions or habits

Examples: He sees the train He eats cereal for breakfast every day

Past simple

Use: we use the past simple for something in the past which is finished Ex: Emma passed her exam last year

We went to the theatre on Friday

Elvis Presley died in 1977

• last week, last year, last month, yesterday, ago, in 1977

Past perfect

Use: Past perfect tense expresses action completed before certain time in the past (This is the before-past tense.)

 It uses the helping verb had and the past participle of the verb Example: She had written the letter before I saw her

Ex 2: Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form

4 The girl did her homework and then went to bed

=> After the girl had done homework, she went to bed

5 She often spends 5hours reviewing the old lesson

=> It often takes her 5 hours to review the old lesson

6 “Would you mind going to Mai’s birthday party?”

=> An invited me to go to Mai’s birthday party

Ex 4: Work in group- Rewrite these sentences base on available information
