Handbag Measurements:
9” tall 15” wide across the middle 12” wide across the bottom
Straps: any length that’s convenient for you
Fabric Needed:
Handbag: ½ yard Lining: ½ yard Casing and bow fabric: ½ yard Fusible Fleece: ½ yard
Fusible Interfacing:1 yard

Seam Allowance: ¼”
Trang 3fabric.
Cut out the front and back pieces
Trang 4pieces
Trang 5a medium heat setting with steam. Press firmly until attached.
In order to trace the dart onto the handbag, place the pattern onto the fusible fleece side of the front and back pieces with a piece of black
tracing paper behind it as shown
Trang 6This is what your pencil markings should look like
Trang 7Cut out two strips of fabric measuring 21 ½” x 1 ¾” for the elastic
casing
Trang 8Fold in the edges ¼” as shown and press.
Trang 9Pin each strip onto the front and back pieces 2 ¼” from the top.
Trang 10Sew the strips onto the front and back pieces along both sides.
Trang 11a large safety pin to the end and insert it into the strip.
Gather the elastic and pull the safety pin so the elastic goes through
the casing
Trang 12end closed catching the elastic end into the seam.
Pin the front and back pieces around the outside as shown
Trang 13Turn the bag rightside out
Trang 143” wide x your desired length.
Iron the interfacing onto the back of each strap with medium heat
Trang 15Fold in the edges ¼” as shown and press.
Trang 16Pin and sew the straps onto the handbag 5 ½” from the side seams
Trang 17The finished straps.
Trang 18Using the pattern piece, cut out two lining pieces.
Trang 19pieces.
Iron the fusible interfacing onto the back of each lining piece using a medium heat setting with steam. Press firmly until attached
Trang 20measuring 6” x 8”.
Trang 21Turn the pocket rightside out and press seams flat. Sew along the
Trang 22The pocket should be placed 4 ½” down from the top of the lining. Pin and sew the pocket onto one of the lining pieces leaving the top open.
Trang 23Sew the elastic casing onto each lining piece along both sides
Trang 24Cut two pieces of elastic measuring 11 ½” long x 3/8” wide. Attach a
Trang 25the casing
Trang 26end closed catching the elastic end into the seam.
Trang 27Sew the lining pieces together around the outside leaving a 7” opening
in the bottom
Trang 28the straps as well.
Pin the handbag and the lining together around the top
Trang 29Sew the handbag and lining together along the top.
Trang 30Sew the opening in the lining closed with a zig zag stitch. Push the
lining into the handbag
Trang 31Top stitch the top of the handbag for a finished look
Trang 32handbag with a needle and thread.
