Năm 1906 đọc như thế nào? “Nineteen six” hay là “nineteen

Hôm nay một sinh viên hỏi tôi cách đọc năm 1906 Đọc là

“nineteen six” hay “nineteen oh six”? Cậu ta biết trong tiếng Anh chúng ta thường đọc năm (4 số) theo cặp gồm 2 chữ số một Theo cậu ta thì “nineteen six” có vẻ không ổn Có lẽ do khi học tiếng Anh, cậu ấy được dạy rằng 2:03 đọc là “two oh three”, chứ không phải “two three” Do đó khi đọc đến năm, cậu ta mới đặt câu hỏi như vậy

Tất nhiên tôi trả lời cách đọc thứ hai là chính xác Bạn cần phải thêm âm “o” khi chữ số hàng chục là chữ số 0 Cậu ta lại hỏi tiếp: “Vậy năm 804 đọc là eight oh four hay sao?”

Thuật giải cách đọc năm trong tiếng Anh

1 Nếu không có chữ số hàng nghìn hoặc hàng trăm, đọc như cách đọc số thông thường, ví dụ:

1 54 – “fifty-four”

2 99 – “ninety-nine”

3 0 – “zero”

4 8 – “eight”

Nếu có chữ số hàng nghìn nhưng hàng trăm là số 0 (zero), bạn có thể đọc là “n thousand and x” Nếu hai chữ số cuối là zero, bạn hãy bỏ phần “and x” đi Ví dụ:
