How to Measure
The purpose of this manual is to provide direction on how to measure
adidas product The information provided in this manual is meant
to provide a basis for measuring and does not reflect every case or
possibility
When a special case arises, the PCT pattern maker will provide
detailed information to the factory regarding how to measure
•For example, if there is a side insert and there is no “true” underarm
point, it is difficult to use the standard “2.0 cm below the armhole”
measurement In this case, the PCT pattern maker will provide a
measurement distance from the hem If nothing is provided in the spec,
then the factory should contact PCT with a suggestion It is important
that the factory and PCT work together on finding the best solution for
measuring special cases.
Trang 4Importance of accurate measuring:
It is very important that garments are measured correctly
If a garment is not correctly measured, this can negatively affect
fitting and the adjustments made:
•For example: A garment has a hem width spec of 110.0 cm The garment
is incorrectly measured at 108.0 cm but the garment actually measures true
to the spec at 110.0 cm During the fit session, it is decided that the garment
is too big at the hem opening The PCT pattern maker makes an adjustment
(believing that the garment measures 108.0 cm) and adjusts the spec
to 106.0 cm The factory makes this adjustment and the next sample is too small If the garment had been measured correctly, the PCT pattern maker would have made the correct spec adjustments Now PCT will have to adjust the hem opening again to achieve the correct fit
• ACCURATE MEASURING IS CRITICAL!

Benefits of accurate measuring:
Adjustments/pattern changes made during the fittings are correct
Fewer pattern changes are required throughout the development
process
Garments can be FIT APPROVED more quickly

Waistband Width Stretched (pattern measurement)
Trang 99 e-room/Manuals/how to measure
Minimum waistband width stretched
Waistband has to be stretched until minimum waistband width stretched
and for very elastic fabrics even more possible
Trang 10Childrens Waist Tie Cord
(following adidas safety requirements)
Maximum tie cordlength :
Tie cord lengths must not exceed 7.5cm when the waistband is stretched to
“ waistband width stretched ( pattern meas.)”
Trang 1111 e-room/Manuals/how to measure
Hip width has to be measured below the waistband from side seam to front
to side seam
Please see size spec for exact distance, where hip width has to be measured
xcmxcm
Trang 12The side seam has to be measured along the seam
Side Seam and inseam
In the case of no side seam, garment has to be placed flat on the table
Placing front rise on top of back rise
Trang 1313 e-room/Manuals/how to measure
Inseam with Gusset
If the garment has a gusset, than the inseam must be measured along the seam from the end point of the gusset to the edge of the hem
The gusset measurement will be speced separately in the AD
Inseam will start at end point of gusset…
Trang 14The front / back rise has to be measured curved along the seam include the
waistband, but not include the gusset ( if applicable)
Back Rise
