Vietnam is a peaceful and beautiful country which is in tropical climate The weather of North and South has distinct differences

North has 4 seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter In Spring, it is warm, drizzly and humid The warm climate in Spring is good for trees to bud and for hundred kinds of flowers to show their colors In summer, it is sunny and hot The degree may go

up to 39◦C The hot - tempered weather make us feel unhealthy and sometimes crazy In autumn, it is cool, breezy and rainy Winter is the coldest in the year because of North - East monsoon It is cold, frosty and dry

South only has 2 seasons: rainy season and dry season In dry season, it is sunny and dry In rainy season, it is humid because it is rainny much and there are usually lots

- Go to bed early and wake up early to keep comfortable spirit

- Do exercise, walking every day, travel to relax

- Cereals, fruit and vegetable include many kinds of vitamins, necessary nutriments and fibrous matter They also contain mineral nutrients and little calorie So,

we can avoid obesity Besides, they are good for our stomach because they are easy to be digested /’daidzest/

- Yohurt: contains many useful bacteria which stimulate appetite and help us have

a smooth skin

- Milk and dairy product, and some meat such as: fish, chicken, beef, shrimp give

us protein, calcium

4/ What are the bad habits for health?

- Smoking cigaretes is one of the bad habits for health because smoking causes many dangerous deseases such as: lung cancer, , heart desease, pulmonary desease, sterilization

- Listening to loud music by headphone make us decrease hearing

- Skipping breakfast make us not have enough energy for the day so you can feel very tired

- Going to bed as soon as we finish a meal make us have a stomache

- Wearing high heels will hurt our spine

When I was 8 years old, I attend to grade four I was said that I was clever but lazy I didn’t study concentrately and usually played truant to go out Therefor, at the final exam, I get a bad point in maths I was afraid that my parents would know my bad exam result Then, I said them that I get good points However, at the parental meeting,

my teacher let my parent know about that My parents felt ashamed and very angry with

me Afterwards, my father gave me a spanking for my lies, my mother lectured that the lie was so bad and I should be honest with my parents At last, I had to write a review In

my review, I must show my remorse and promise my advance to them Since then, I studied hard in order not to make my parents disappoited I think my parents associate harmoniously in educating me They let me know right from wrong so that I would not

go wrong again

2/ What are the works that the husband and wife should do together in the family?

In the family, it is important to manage all works suitably There are some works which husband and wife shoud do together

Firstly, they should earning money together in order to make sure that material lives is always adequate

Secondly, they should take care of the children together because the children need their parents’ care and education to develop their body and their mind in balance Specially, it make the family have a strong attachment

Finally, they should together give a big decision because a big decision can change their life Husband and wife must discuss to have unanimous solution

However, in the family, there are some difference between husband’s role and wife’s role

Husband shoud share housework with his wife because: there are a lot of housework, and wife is as busy as husband Moreover, sharing housework make equality between husband and wife’s responsibility Besides, husband should look after the children, give them discipline if they are wrong, and teaching them some living skills such as fix smt, obeying rules, determination, etc Next, husband should have generousity and understanding about his wife’s characteristics to sympathize her defects

Wife shoud have knowledge about housework because in the family, wife is usually major in doing housework Therefore, happiness of the family depend on her skillful hands Besides, wife should teach the children some characteristics such as patience, tolerance, politeness so they would have good behavior In addition, wife should reconcile family’s relationship harmoniously by gentleness and understanding to make cheeriness in the family Finally, wife should pay attention to her beauty and health, always refesh herself in order to be beautiful in husband’s feeling

3/ What can a husband/a wife do to keep a happy family?

Marriage is the new beginning for husband and wife And the family’s life always have many complicated problems for them to solve It is not easy to keep a happy family However, it is possible if husband and wife raising a family together

- Should be faithful so that they can make reality for the partner

- Should have patience and generousity to sympathize with the partner’s defects

- Should be humorous to make cheeriness in the family

- Manage money suitably to make sure the family lives is adequate and to save money for necessary situations

- Should refresh themselves and spend time making some romantic and unexpected events so they can have unforgetable time As a consequence, their love is deeper and deeper

4/ Should parents hit their children when they don’t obey? Why? Why not?

In my opinion, parents should not hit their children when they don’t obey There are several reasons for it

- The worst risk of hitting the children is that parents could hurt the children’s body, specially serious injuries such as: bone fracture, leg or arm fracture and nervous hurt

- Hitting the children / Caning /keining/ may make severe psychological wounds

in the children Their self - respect may be hurt They also may be timorous, and get depression So they restrain their desire and may be reserved in sharing their feelings with parents Then, parents don’t understand their thought, that make distance between children and parents

- Caning make the chilren close with violence because they learn the way to solve everything by violence from their parents Some children will be used to caning and are not scared to caning They will be more stubborn

- Hitting the children / Whipping /’wiping/ only make them stop bad action momentarily but don’t help them know right from wrong so that they would go wrong again Some better ways are lecture or having a informal conversation with them, that leads to a good result and avoid violence

Lesson 4: Giving opinion

1/ All motorbike rider should be require to wear helmet?

Yes, because of some reasons:

- Helmets have protective effect so they will protect us agaist/from brain injury when they get road accident

- Helmets also have the effect like a hat They can help us shelter from the rain and shade from the sun

- Some types of helmet are very beatiful, so they can help us look better

2/ Smoking should not be allowed indoors in public places?

Yes and there are some several reasons for it

- Smoking is harmful for our health Smoking causes many serious deseases such as: lung cancer, heart dease, bronchitis, sterilization,etc

- Smoking make smoker to be an opium addiction Therefore, he will spend much money on cigarettes As a consequence, his income is decreased

- Smoking sometimes leads to a big fire such as: house fire or forest fire, that make a serious damage for the family and society

- Smoking causes many environmetal problems because it give hazardous rubbish out evironment For example, cigarette ash can not be used again and they need many years to disintegrate

- Theft, shoplifting

- Fraud to get money, to appropriate personal property

Several reasons for increasing teenage crime:

- Lack of caring and education from the family For example, parents only pay attention to earning money and don’t have time to take care of their children The children are left to do whatever they want Besides, some parents pamper/indulge their children too much or usually hit them, hurt their self - respect

- The way of school educate the children only give discipline, don’t pay attention

to personality, living skills, knowledge about the law, don’t help the children know about right and wrong

- Their family don’t combine with school and society in education the teenages

- A result of illiteracy

- unwholesome living environment For instance, some people who live closely with the children induce them to do bad things or have bad behavior

- loose management from local government

- Having sereve/bad psychology wounds because of parents’ divorce The children may be disgusted with the broken family and then they have evil thought about society

Vietnamese often start dating at their twenties At this age, they are emotional so that they are easy to be fall in love with a opposite sex Many people at this age have a the first love For them, love is romantic, passionate and giving body and soul to the other

They usually date at some places of entertainment such as parks, cinema, restaurants, cafe,etc They often creat unexpected and romantic events and give presents for the partner They also talk about their friends, humorous stories, praises, sweet things

- We normally can’t explain why we love someone

4/ Why do many people get divorced these days?

Divorce is the major concern of many families and there are several reasons for

this issue

- First of all, divorce is a result of unfaithfulness For instance, husband or wife

has an external affair with somebody Hence, they do not pay attention to the family and

raising the children Then, it leads to contradiction between husband and wife

- Another reason for divorce is low finacial status For example, the lack of

money causes the poor living standard and depressed spirit Thus, they usually blame the

responsibility onto the other that may lead to disputation and conflict between spouses

- The last and the most important reason is selfishness For example, husband or

wife does not share feeling with each other and only think about himself or herself As a

consequence, they do not sympathize with the other’s defects Inconclusion, the three 3

main causes of divorce are unfaithfulness, low financial status and selfishness

5/ Do you believe in love at first sight?

I do not believe in love at first sight I will explain it in a simple way:

- We know that apperance and personality in many situation are not suitable For example, a good - looking person may have bad behavior or a plain person may have a good personality So, our feelings at first sight can disappear when we understand about them

- Love need more than a sight Although love is a strong affection, it is patience and understanding So we must have time to understand somebody’s characteristics However, I do not deny the first feeling doen not become true love Our first emotion might to become a love if we understand the good characteristics of the other, have a caring and sencerity

6/ What do you think is the most important thing for a marriage to stay together?

To begin a marriage, husband and wife need a sencere love But to stay together until old age, they must have forgiveness to sympathize with the other’s defects and mistakes No one is perfect so they can get wrong several times in their life and need to

be sympathized from the partners Moreover, if they have forgiveness, every family’s troubles would be solve in gentleness anf they always keep cheeriness in the family
