1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction

Alibaba is Laboratory Information System (LIS) designed to help clinics/hospitals easily

and effectively manage all laboratory operations It also provides other added values such as: remote monitoring lab, return test result to patient remotely via LAN, internet, web, SMS … Alibaba is able to connect with almost laboratory instruments Alibaba installed in 01 PC can connect concurrently with 24 instruments via serial port and unlimited instruments via

Ethernet port Alibaba also can exchange data with any Hospital/Clinic Information System (HIS) or other system using shared database (Alibaba put all data into database in some pre-defined/open format and condition, so any system can easily process those data It also can exchange data via file or webservice)

Alibaba is low cost LIS solution with high quality, flexible, easily customize for customer’s dedicated requirements

1.2 Functionalities

Basic functionalities

1 Automatically receive and store test results from all instruments Easily store, search and

statistics

2 Manage test sample using barcode

3 If test 01 patient sample in some instruments, not need to print some test reports from

each instruments, only print 01 cumulative test report for 01 patient

4 01 PC can connect simultaneously from 24 instruments via serial port and unlimited

instruments via Ethernet port

5 Can connect unidirectional or bidirectional Able to connect with almost laboratory

instruments in Vietnam market Can connect with medical imaging/radiology instruments

in the near future (CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultra Sound)

6 Automatically test name mapping (standardized test name)

7 Easily exchange data with other system in hospital/clinic using shared database

Note:

- Manage test sample using barcode: all specimen are stick with a barcode This barcode is unique in day One barcode is used for only one patient

- Unidirectional: Alibaba LIS only receive test result from instrument

- Bidirectional: Alibaba LIS receive test result from instrument and can send test selection and control command from PC to instruments Only some instruments are able to connect bidirectional

- Automatically test name mapping (standardized test name): this function allow to define each test result from instrument is corresponding with which paraclinical name Example: Ure is corresponding with test code 32 in Hitachi 917 instruments or test code 4012 in Elecsys 2010 instruments

- Advanced functionalities: these are added value service, will be implement base on customer demand, and will need extra cost

This is mapping test names in instruments with test name in shared database Each hospital/clinic may have different test name This define which test in instrument will correspond with which test in shared database Thus easily and flexible to manage test name You can add new test name, remove test, change test name, change instruments … easily Do this definition only once time for each instruments.

This is log screen, display all event such as: open/close serial connection, received data, analyzed data, upload data … This is used for test, monitoring and debug system Lab staffs do not need to use this screen.
