Trang 2I Stress:
1 Dấu nhấn trong từ có 2 âm tiết thường nằm ở: + vần thứ 2 đối với động từ
Notes: Đối với những từ tận cùng là đuôi: en, er, on ……… và một số từ không nằm trong quy luật
này nên cách phát âm những từ này phải dựa vào từ điển để phát âm cho chính xác
2 Dấu nhấn trong từ có hơn 2 âm tiết thường được phát âm dựa trên những quy luật sau:
a Dấu nhấn thường nằm ở vần trước ion, ial, ical, ity, itive, itant, ic, ous, ual : mathematical, magic
b Đối với những từ tận cùng là: fy, ate, ize… Dấu nhấn sẽ nằm ở vần thứ 3 đếm từ dưới lên : delicate
…
c Dấu nhấn thường nằm ở chính những vần oon, ese, ee, oo …… : bamboo, afternoon …………
d Danh từ kép có dấu nhấn nằm ở danh từ đứng trước : bookshop, welfare ………

A large number of và A great deal of được dùng trong câu khẳng định
Much/ Many được dùng trong câu phủ định và nghi vấn, câu khẳng định có so, such, too, as
Only a few = few, Only a little = little
4 ALL – MOST – SOME – NO………
all , most, some, no + ( adjective ) + plural noun / uncountable noun
all of, most of, some of, none of + determiners ( a, an, the, my, his, this, that…… ) + noun
Eg: Most of her friends live abroad
All children are fond of candy

IN: dùng để chỉ tháng, năm, mùa, buổi … (in September/ in 2008/ in the morning/ in the summer…
