To create greeting cards using the PhotoSuite program:

1. Click the large Compose button on the Welcome screen, or the Compose button

on the Navigation bar The Navigation bar is located below the Menu bar

2. Click Cards & Tags on the Activity panel

3. Click Greetings on the next Activity panel displayed Select a category of templates from the drop-down menu as shown in Figure 15-15 A number of greeting card templates appear on your screen

4. Open photos you want to use and drag and drop them into the template, as described previously in this chapter

Making a Card with PhotoDeluxe

PhotoDeluxe includes a half dozen or so interesting greeting-card templates To access these templates, simply click the Cards & More link located on the left side of the program screen, as shown in Figure 15-16 You can then drag and drop photos into the template layout, as described earlier in this chapter

Create an Illustrated Calendar

Calendars are a popular gift because they’re functional and decorative even if you already have more than one You can create them using a special calendar template, or create one on your own with a little help from a word-processing program

Designing a Calendar Using PhotoSuite

The hardest part about creating a calendar with PhotoSuite is choosing among all the different template styles Your first decision is whether you want to use the monthly or yearly calendar templates Your first thought might be, “Why would I want to create a

calendar for only one month?” The answer is that you can bind the monthly pages, like the one shown in Figure 15-17, to create a calendar with a different photo for every month

To use any of the PhotoSuite calendar templates, follow these steps:

1. Click the large Compose button on the Navigation bar, directly below the PhotoSuite Menu bar

2. Click Calendars on the Activity panel

3. Choose 1 Month, Quarterly, or Yearly from the available options on the Activity panel on the left side of the screen A number of thumbnail templates from the category you selected appear on your desktop, as shown in Figure 15-18

4. Select the year and/or month you wish to display on the calendar

5. Double-click the thumbnail of the template you want to use, then click Next to see it full size on your desktop

6. You can return to the thumbnail view of the templates by clicking the Back arrow in the upper left corner of the screen

7. Drag and drop photos from the Library to the template, or open photos from disks or your hard drive, and drag and drop them into the calendar template You can resize and reposition the photos, as necessary, with your mouse

8. When you’ve finished loading, resizing, and positioning your photos, click the Finish button

Consider adding props from the PhotoSuite prop database to your calendar for added impact The topic of adding props is discussed earlier in this chapter.

Creating a Calendar with PhotoDeluxe

PhotoDeluxe contains two templates for creating calendars: monthly and yearly To access and use these templates, follow these steps:

1. Click the Cards & More link located on the left side of the program screen

2. Select Month or Year from the Navigation bar, directly below the Menu bar.

3. Drag and drop photos into the template layout, as described earlier in this chapter

Use Microsoft Word to Create a Calendar from Scanned Images

To create a basic calendar using the Microsoft Word Calendar wizard, follow these steps:

1. On the File menu, click New

2. Click the Other Documents tab

3. Double-click the Calendar Wizard icon in the dialog box, as shown in Figure 15-19 The Microsoft Word Calendar wizard appears

4. Follow the steps in the wizard to create a Microsoft Word calendar document

5. After you’ve created the basic calendar document, import image files from scanned photos by placing your cursor at an insertion point and choosing Insert | Picture
