Trang 71 Scope
This stand rd specifies the test method to
determine the resistance of transp rent she t to the
efect of a solv ent env ironment whie subjected to a
loa No method has be n dev eloped y et for
specimens with a thick es <6mm; for such
material, a test method shal be ag re d betwe n the
man facturer and the pur haser
2 Definition
For the purposes of this stand rd, the folowing
definition a pl es:
The c az resistance is defined as the a sence of
c azing ( mic o-c acks) when prop nol 2 ( isopropy l
alcohol is a pl ed u der control ed conditions for a
period of3 min to the sur ace of a specimen
ex eriencing a fibre stres as stated in the material
stand rd
3 Apparatus and m aterials
3.1 A canti ev er loa ing ar ang ement as shown
inFigure 1
3.2 Suita le mas es to be h ng f om the loa ing
point to induce the required stres
3.3 Prop nol 2 ( isopropy l alcohol of analy tical
qual ty
3.4 Fi ter p per
4 Specim ens
4.1 The specimens shal be cut fom a she t and
shal hav e a hig h polsh and be fe fom sur ace
d mag e
4.2 Specimens shal be cut of
dimensions17 mm× ( 25±1)mm × ( 6±0,5)mm;
the cut edg es shal be machined smo th Material
with a thick es >6mm shal be machined on one
face only to6mm thick es and the non-machined
face shal be tested
4.3 A hole of6mm diameter shal be dri ed with its
centre15mm fom one end and on the centre lne of
the specimen to faci itate loa ing ( se Fig ure 1)

Trang 85 Conditioning
5.1 The specimens shal be conditioned
at( 23±2)°C, ( 50±5)% relativ e h midity for at
least4 h prior to testing u der the same
conditions
5.2 The a p ratus and solv ent ( in a suita ly
stop ered container) shal be pre-conditioned as for
the specimens
6 Procedur
6.1 For u stretched material the test specimens
shal be fe ly suspended in an air-cir ulating ov en
and maintained at a temperature of ( 15 ±2)°C for
a period of3 min After al owing to co l to ro m
temperature u der draug ht-f e conditions the
specimens are an ealed in an air-cir ulating ov en to
the man facturer’s instructions, then al owed to
co l to ro m temperature u der draug ht-f e
conditions After an eal ng and co l ng the width
and thick es shal be measured at the position of
the fulc um with an ac uracy of ±0,02 mm
6.2 For stretched ac y lic material the test
specimens shal be f e ly suspended in an
air-cir ulating ov en and maintained at a
temperature of ( 75±2)°C for a period of16h and
then al owed to co l u der draug ht-f e conditions
Prior to testing the width and thick es shal be
measured at the position of the fulc um with an
ac uracy of ±0,02 mm
6.3 The specimens shal be set up as cantiev er
beams and loa ed with the specified outer fibre
stres which is calculated f om the folowing
formula
where:
6.4 After a pl cation of the loa for10min and
whie sti u der loa ,prop nol 2 ( isopropy l alcohol
shal be a pled to each specimen b means of
a20mm× 20mm fi ter p per p tch placed on the
up er sur ace and centered on the fulc um and kept
wet with the solv ent
6.5 The fiter p per p tch shal be remov ed
after3 min and the specimen ex mined for
ev idence of c azing
6.6 There shal be no c azing ( g roup of c acks) on the
tested surace Indiv idual c acks shal be
dis eg arded
Unles the c acks are ov er3mm in leng th, edg e
c azing shal be dis eg arded
7 Test r port
The test report shal include the folowing :
