Unit 13: FILMS AND CINEMA

Lesson: Language focus.

I Objective: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:

- Distinguish the sounds / f / and / v /;

- Use some adjectives of attitude;

- Use articles: a , an, the;

- Use the structure: It was not until that

II Teacher materials:

Textbook, blackboard, posters, handouts, cards

III Procedure:

5' I Warm-up: Jumbled Words

- 8 cards of words that content

the two sounds / f / and / v /

1 ohgune → enough

2 naf → fan

3 nva→ van

4 toev → vote

5 isftr → first

6 ewiv→ view

7 nive→vine

8 omrf→form

- Leading to pronunciation / f /

and / v /

- Sticks the 8 cards on the board;

- Models a card ( ohgune

→enough) to help Ss know about the game;

- Divides class into 2 groups;

- Asks each member of 2 groups to go to the board and write down their answers in 2 minutes, who has more correct answers will be the winner;

- Congratulates the winner

- Listen to T' s instructions;

- Work in groups and go to the board to write down the answers

9' II Pronunciation: / f / / v /

- How to distinguish 2 sound:

+ /f/: voiceless sound, we put a

sheet in front of our mouth,

when pronouncing /f/, the sheet

will be moved

+ /v/: voiced sound, we put a

sheet in front of our mouth,

when pronouncing /f/, the sheet

will not be moved

- A poster of words has 2

- Asks Ss to practise pronouncing those sounds;

- Asks Ss to look at the poster;

- Models those words and asks Ss to practice; ( whole class → calls two Ss read aloud the words);

- Asks Ss to look at 6 sentences on page 139 and run- through by asking Ss:

"How many sentences are there?" ( whole class); then reads aloud one by one sentence and asks Ss to repeat; ( whole class→ Ss );

- Listen to T' s instructions and practise the 2 sounds / f / and / v /;

- Practise the sentences;

vocabulary:

1 Adjective of attitudes: (10')

- A poster of some adjectival

verbs

- Gives 2 examples with the

verbs : interest

- Shows a picture about " Tom and Jerry" then asks Ss " Do you know it?" then asks them

- Answer T' s questions;

- Listen to T' s explanation and take notes;

adjectives when we add the

suffix - ING and - ED in the

end of the verbs
