5.2 Preparatio of sample panels

5.2.1 A s a minimum, the folow ing tes sample p nels shal be pr ep r ed

5.2.1.1 One nominal 6 0 mm × 6 0 mm p nel consis ing of2 mm thick the mal insulation b ar d an

b se co t , inclu ing r einfor cing mesh shal be pr ep r ed The b se co t an r einforcing mesh shal be

a pled at the thick es stipulated b the EIFS man factur er, dete mined for the purp se of confirmation

as a mas pe u it ar ea, as pe 5.2.5 This tes sample p nel shal be used for pr ep ration of the tes

spe imens for the folowing tes s:

a) bon s r ngth t es of theb se co t ;

b) base co t wat er impe mea i ity t est ;

c) wat er a sorption of theb se co t t es

5.2.1.2 Five nominal 6 0 mm × 6 0 mm p nels consisting of 2 mm thick the mal insulation b ar d

and b se co t , including r einforcing mesh, an finish co t The edg es of four of the p nels shal be

wrap ed with b se co t , r einfor cing mesh an finish co t T e b se co t shal be alowed to cur e for a

minimum of 24 h prior to a pl cation of the finish co t The b se co t and r einforcing mesh an finish

co t shal be a pled at he thick es esstipulated b the EIFS man factur er, dete mined for the purp se

of confirmation as a mas pe u it ar ea, as pe 5.2.5 This tes sample p nel shal be used for pr ep ration

purpose of confirmation as a mas pe u it ar ea, as pe 5.2.5 This tes sample p nel shal be used for

pr ep ration of the tes spe imens to tes the wate v p ur pe meanc of the LA-WR B

5.2.2 T e tes sample p nels shal be pr ep r ed in a ve tical orient at ion to simulate inst alation in

5.2.5 T ea pled mate ial thick es shal be ve ified as a mas pe u it ar ea, asfolows In dete mining

the ar ea of the tes sample p nel, it lnear dimensions shal be measur ed to an ac uracy of 1 mm

5.2.6 Using the thick es s ipulated b the EIFS man factur er, an the density of the mate ial as

pr ovided b the EIFS manufactur er, the r eq ir ed mas of mate ial to be a pled to the tes sample p nel

shal be dete mined as folows:

shal be det ermined b measuring the mas of the r maining mat erial, inclu ing it st orag e containe ,

conditioned tes sample p nels desc ibed in 5.2.1.1 thr ough 5.2.1.4 Care an caution shal be exer cised

when cutting the tes spe imens fr om the tes sample p nels so that the b n betwe n mate ials is not

afe ted The spe d of the saw blade, the n mbe of te th pe inch an othe cutting v ria les shal be

consider ed in tes spe imen prep r ation in orde to a void exc s vibrations or heat buid-up

5.3 EIFS c onstituent mater ial tests

5.3.1 A sh c ontent

5.3.1.1 This tes shal be con ucted only if de med ne es ar y b the testing ag ency as a means of

identification of the tes sample mate ials submited

5.3.1.2 When con ucted, tes spe imens shal be pr ep r ed an the ash content of the b se co t an

finish co t mate ial shal be dete mined in ac ordanc w ith ISO 345 -1 an the results shal be ex pr es ed

as a per centag e of the initial weight of the dry tes spe imen

5.3.2 Infrared anal ysis

5.3.2.1 This tes shal be con ucted only if de med ne es ar y b the testing ag ency as a means of

identification of the tes sample mate ials submited

5.3.2.2 Tes spe imens shal be prep r ed and the a sorption spe trum of the or ganic fraction of the

bin e used in the formulation of the b se co t an finish co t shal be dete mined in ac or danc with

ISO 46 0 and the r esults shal be r ecor ded on a plot of percent transmittanc vs wa veleng th

5.3.3 Bond str eng th tests

5.3.3.1 Tes spe imen pr ep r ation an tes ing of the b n s r eng th of the ad esive, b seco t an finish

5.3.4 Wate vapour per me nc e of the lamina

5.3.4.1 Three tes spe imens of a siz suitable for the tes eq ipment to be used shal be cut fr om the

tes sample p nel spe ified in 5.2.1.2 and the lamina car efuly r emo ed fr om the the mal insulation

b ar d The dry thicknes of the lamina shal be measured in at leas five locations on each tes spe imen

and the a verag e thick es r ep rted

5.3.4.2 The wate v p ur pe meanc of the lamina shal be dete mined ac or ding to ISO 16 3 with the

fac co t of the lamina ex posed to the tes chambe

5.3.4.3 The a verag e wate v p ur pe meanc of the lamina shal be r ep rted in ng /(Pa·s·m

5.3.5 Base c oat wate imperme bi ity test

5.3.5.1 Three tes spe imens measuring 2 0 mm × 20 mm shal be cut fr om the tes sample p nel

desc ibed in 5.2.1.1 The edg es of each tes spe imen shal be sealed with wa or othe suitable v p ur

impe mea le mate ial

NOTE A wa me ting the req irements of ISO 16 3:2 07, 5.8, “ e lant wa ”, would b a suita le material to

use for se ling the edg s of the test specimens

5.3.5.2 Ove a surfac area of 10 mm × 1 0 mm in the c ntr e of the tes spe imens, the the mal

insulation b ar d shal be remo ed, b scraping , down to the b ck of the b se co t Methyl Violet 2B

p wde shal be brushed onto the b ck of the b se co t

5.3.5.3 The tes spe imens, with the co ting s facing downward, shal be plac d in a tan of wate to a

depth of (5 ±0,2 ) mm for at leas 2 h

5.3.5.4 A fte two hours, the ar ea of dampnes on the tes spe imen as dete mined b a colour chang e

in the Methyl Violet 2B p wde shal be r ecor ded as a per centag eof the total ex posed b se co t ar ea A ny

5.3.6 Wate absorption of the base c oat

5.3.6.1 T wo tes spe imens measuring 1 0 mm × 1 0 mm shal be cut fr om the tes sample p nel

desc ibed in 5.2.1.1 an the the mal insulation b ar d shal be detached fr om each of them

5.3.6.2 The tes spe imens shal be dried in a wel-ventilated o en for 24 h at a temperatur e of

(1 5 ± 2) °C A fte co lng at r oom temperatur e for 1 min, the dry weig ht of the tes spe imens shal be

measur ed an reported to the near es 0,0 g

5.3.6.3 Each tes spe imen shal then be imme sed fla 5 mm below the surfac of dis i ed (2 ± 5) °C

wate for a pe iod of 48 h

5.3.6.4 A fte 48h imme sion, the weight of each tes spe imen shal be measur ed to the neares 0,0 g

The wate a sorption shal be dete mined b the incr ease in mas in r elation to the dry weight of the

spe imen ex pr es ed as a percentag e of the dry weig ht of the tes spe imen The a ver ag e per centag e

5.3.7 Finish c oat fung us r esistanc e test

5.3.7.1 One tes spe imen shal be pr ep red b a plying finish co t onto a clean 5 mm × 5 mm glas

5.3.7.2 The fu g us r esis anc tes shal be con ucted ac or ding to ISO 846 The tes spe imen shal be

incub ted for a minimum of 2 d

5.3.7.3 At the en of the tes pe iod, the tes spe imen shal be examined for fu gal g rowth on the

finish co t mate ial an the o se v tions r ecor ded ac or ding to the r eq ir ement of ISO 846

5.3.8 Lamina salt r esistanc e test

5.3.8.1 Thr ee tes spe imens measuring 1 0 mm × 3 0 mm shal be cut fr om the tes sample p nel

desc ibed in 5.2.1.2 The edg es of each tes spe imen shal be sealed with wa

5.3.8.2 The tes spe imens shal be tes ed ac or ding to ISO 461 for 3 0 h

5.3.8.3 The tes spe imens shal be visualy examined w ithout mag nification
